Have been updating computers/tablets for couple of days with windows 10. It is going way too smoothly for me. Have gotten four done so far with no hitches - beginning to wonder if Microsoft has found a way to encapsulate their usual problems into time release capsules.:tongue3:

Just wondering how it is going for others. My son tried and it slowed his computer down and he had couple of problems.

I do not understand the need to wait. On Wed I reserved mine and on Thurs without notice it began downloading.

We had reserved on all ours but only one at a time were automatically offering it. My desktop was one of the first reserved and it hadn't come through today so I tried the link that I had stumbled across.

Just a heads up - I have a Sony netbook with windows 7 - tried to update - failed - tried again - failed. At this point a note from Sony popped up telling me they don't have Windows 10 drivers available for all units.

They give a month when drivers will be available and that SOME units will not get new drivers.

If you have a sony, might be good to snoop their site before wasting several hours downloading and find it didn't work.

AND of course MS makes you go through the total download again to find out if it was a fluke with their stuff or your machine.

I upgraded my Dell laptop running Windows 7 on Thursday night. I think it took a couple of hours and I've noticed no problems. In fact, one of the legacy programs that I use (Illustrator CS2) runs better than before.

I have a desktop running 8.1 that's next on the list.

Ya'll might snoop start button/settings/privacy and see what all is going on relating you your saying yes to the agreement at the beginning.

Also, a look at the Wi-Fi sense to be sure you want what they have set up by default.

Cortona requires you to shift your user account to your Microsoft account also.

Just some thoughts from my day of snooping/reading online about what MS is up to and why 10 may be free. Mine information, sell it to others, make money :) it would seem.

Updated an older win 7 netbook with touchscreen - now no touchscreen. Lenovo has no 10 drivers for it so that may not get fixed - still working on that one.

I am having a bit of an issue in that all of my video files will now only open in quick time even though they were previously saved and played in wma.

I noticed that Firefox browser doesn't stream videos very well even after updating it. Chrome browser works better for that now. I haven't had any other issues yet.

I'm unable to resize the font on the browser.

These old eyes are having a hard time reading the small fonts.

font size, did you try start button/settings/in window at top right type fonts/click on size on the left list of items?

Slow, hope they do something about that, my units are slightly slower, haven't noticed it coming out of sleep yet. Browser is like I grew suddenly older :)

I've noticed a couple of little problems have disappeared with updates so I think they are working on things.

Finally got my last one upgraded, an older Sony netbook. Crashed four times trying, finally downloaded and iso, burned a dvd and it went right in.

Do yourself a favor & don't even install Windows 10!!!

I installed it on my laptop a couple weeks ago & have found it to be the absolutely worst operating system that Microsoft has ever devised!!

Since I installed Windows 10, I cannot access either Facebook or my financial institution's internet page!!

What's even worse, it seems as though once you've installed Windows 10 on your computer, you cannot uninstall it in order to revert back to any former Microsoft operating system.

Prior to making the mistake of installing Windows 10 on my computer, I was using Microsoft 8 Home Premium. That operating system worked fine for me, but Windows 10 is by far the absolutely worst Microsoft operating system that they've ever devised.

It's so useless, even a friend of mine who does computer software troubleshooting for several online corporations has found Window 10 to be useless. Even he can't figure this operating system out!!

He told me that Windows 10 is even worse than Windows Vista--a Microsoft operating system that they had to discontinue because it was so terrible!!

So, if even a professional computer operating systems engineer can't figure out Windows 10, I'm not sure what computer-ignorant people like I am can do.

I'm led to believe that the idiots that devised Windows 10 were probably the same bunch of jokers who came up with the program for the Obamacare website.

Sorry for your troubles, some have problems but most are adapting nicely, we have several units and all function fine.

As to going back to the former system you can do it. One of our units had a pop up offering that option. This is if you haven't deleted any directories like windows.old

Look around in settings though I have not run across the option.

You might also search tenforums.com and if search doesn't turn it up ask the question.

Hope you get back to satisfaction :)
    ----
Go to settings and type go back in the window at the top right and the next screen, go back to 8.1 is offered.

Which one of the 19 options in the ten forums is considered to be the "settings"?

I don't see a specific option entitled "settings" in the ten forums link you posted.

(Please keep in mind that this 68-YO handicapped person is very computer ignorant. If I don't see an option specifically named "settings," then I have absolutely NO idea to what you may be referring! :BangHead:)

On your computer go to the start button, click it, go down to settings click on it, when the window opens type "go back" in the window at the top right and on the next screen, "go back" to 8.1 (or your old system) is offered.

The tenforums.com link is to a forum of people that know a lot about windows 10. Many problems have been posted and answered over the weeks.
