It is late July 2015, and the media is abuzz with the news that Turkey will allow US jets to use its bases to bomb Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Syria. There is much talk about how this development is a “game-changer,” and how this is a clear escalation of the much ballyhooed, but more fictional than real, US war on ISIS: the terror organization that US intelligence welcomed as a positive development in 2012 in their continued attempts to instigate regime change against the Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad.

The western public is told that “This is a significant shift…It’s a big deal,” as a US military official told the Wall Street Journal. What the corporate media fail to mention, however, is the fact that Turkey has been, and continues to be, a central actor in the war in Syria and, consequently, in the development and maintenance of ISIS. So, while Washington waxes poetic about stepping up the fight against the terror group, and lauds the participation of its allies in Ankara, the barely concealed fact is that Turkey is merely further entrenching itself in a war that it has fomented.

    < snip >

While it would appear that Washington is taking a measured approach, cautiously supporting Turkey while trying to limit the scope of the operation, that illusion is merely for appearance’s sake. In fact, the Brookings Institution just last month issued a policy paper entitled Deconstructing Syria: Towards a regionalized strategy for a confederal country, which brazenly laid out a plan to, as political analyst Tony Cartalucci astutely pointed out, “divide, destroy, then incrementally occupy” Syria using the pretext of ISIS and terrorism. And that is precisely what we’re witnessing now.

USA, Turkey and Israel Act As Air Force for ISIS

NATO member Turkey was busted buying huge quantities of oil from ISIS (its main source of funding), and bombing ISIS’ main on-the-ground enemy – Kurdish soldiers – using its air force. Many also say that Turkey has long been directly supporting ISIS.

The Israeli air force has bombed near the Syrian capital of Damascus, and attacked agricultural facilities and warehouses (the Syrian government is the other main opponent of ISIS in Syria besides the Kurds). The Israeli military recently admitted supporting Syrian jihadis. And see this.

Mainstream U.S. writers such as Thomas Friedman have called for America to support ISIS.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz opposed U.S. military intervention in Syria, saying the U.S. military shouldn’t be “Al Qaeda’s air force.” Similarly, former Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich said that striking Syria would turn the United States military into “al-Qaeda’s air force.” (ISIS is just a re-branded name for Al Qaeda).

Indeed, NBC News, the Wall Street Journal, CNN and others report that the U.S. has already committed to provide air power to support Muslim jihadis in Syria.

So Turkey, Israel and the U.S. are all now acting as ISIS’ air force in order to oust the Syrian government … again.

OBAMA JUST DECLARED WAR ON SYRIA

    ...and hardly anyone even noticed

While everyone was freaking out over a lion, the Obama White House just declared war on Syria and hardly anyone even noticed.

The Pentagon’s $500 Million Syrian Rebel Force Defeated in First Battle

The Anti-Media previously highlighted the failure of the Obama administration’s plan to train and equip moderate Syrian rebels to fight the Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL). While the plan was to train and equip 5,600 moderate Syrian rebels, only 54 rebels actually crossed the border from Turkey into Syria.

On July 31, these rebels, known as Division 30, were attacked by al-Nusra Front, the al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria. They performed poorly in the firefight and had to withdraw from their base near the town of Azaz. As the Associated Press reported,

Nusra captures five more U.S.-trained rebels

WASHINGTON: Syria’s Al-Qaeda affiliate Nusra Front abducted five more rebels believed to have been trained by the United States after raiding areas along the Turkish border in the past 24 hours, a monitoring group said Tuesday.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the militant group was now holding a total of 13 men from “Division 30,” a Syrian rebel unit that includes some fighters recently trained by the U.S. military.

It's title sounds quite impressive but what is the "British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights"?

It's actually one man working from his home in Coventry England that is being paid by "an un-named European country".

April 12, 2013 (LD) - In reality, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has long ago been exposed as an absurd propaganda front operated by Rami Abdul Rahman out of his house in England's countryside. According to a December 2011 Reuters article titled, "Coventry - an unlikely home to prominent Syria activist," Abdul Rahman admits he is a member of the so-called "Syrian opposition" and seeks the ouster of Syrian President Bashar Al Assad:

How US Allies Aid Al Qaeda in Syria

The dirty secret about the Obama administration’s “regime change” strategy in Syria is that it amounts to a de facto alliance with Al Qaeda’s Nusra Front which is driving toward a possible victory with direct and indirect aid from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Israel, as Daniel Lazare explains.

I hate to get nit-picky, but this guy sounds like an idiot. His title, "Obama just declared war on Syria", is very misleading. Actually, it's an outright lie. Even the guy himself says "basically" as a clarification, as in, "Obama just basically declared war on Syria". "Basically" declaring war, and declaring war are not the same thing. Anything he had to say after that was totally discredited because of that one thing. I tried to listen to the rest, but couldn't bring myself to keep going, as the guy was all over the place, and making up hypotheticals that were obviously NOT what was stated.

If you have any other source than a liar, I'd be interested in reading them. But this guy's an idiot.

Wanted to add: this is not an attack on you. I'm not saying that we will not go to war with Syria. I'm not saying we will. I'm looking for info. And this guy doesn't have it.

If funding and arming "rebels" and flying air cover for Muslim extremists to overthrow the Syrian govt isn't enough to prove we've been at war with Syria for some time I don't know what would be.

All the information you need to make up your mind has been in the news for quite awhile. I've done my best to post it all here in the past couple years.

Find it and put it all together for yourself. I've done more than my share of the work already.

STATE DEPT. ‘DOESN’T KNOW’ LEGAL AUTHORITY BEHIND OBAMA’S GREEN LIGHT TO ATTACK SYRIAN TROOPS

Administration has proven it has little concern for constitutional question

Asked what legal justification the Obama White House’s decision to strike Syrian government forces was based on, State Department deputy spokesperson Mark Toner said, “I frankly don’t know.”

Earlier this week it was reported that the U.S. would allow airstrikes against Syrian government targets in defense of US-trained rebel militants who have been battling against the Assad regime for the past four years, a de facto declaration of war two years after President Obama supposedly backed down from committing the United States to military action in Syria to topple the Assad government.

When asked by RT’s Gayane Chichakyan what the legal basis was for this decision or whether it could be justified by Congressional backing, the State Department’s Mark Toner was left dumbfounded.

“I frankly don’t know what the legal authority is,” Toner said, arguing that the measure was defensive in nature and would only be used if Assad’s forces attacked US-trained rebels (many of whom have gone on to join Al-Qaeda affiliate groups and ISIS itself).

Toner refused to admit that the decision represented a major change in US policy, arguing, “There’s no change in the legal framework, our main goal is to take the fight against ISIL. Nothing’s changed in that regard.”

Not only that the POTUS, cannot declare War - only Congress can. However in Dec 1941, FDR did sign off on the Declaration of War approved by Congress. Though the COTUS does not specifically require the President to approve War - this was done to prevent any unexpected surprises.

British Special Forces “Dressing Up” As ISIS…What Could Go Wrong?

The “elite” British SAS special forces are dispatching over 120 troops to Syria to dress up as ISIS fighters and attack Syrian targets. In today’s Thought For The Day, James looks back at a couple of the lowlights of the bumbling SAS forces and examines the 2005 incident where the SAS was caught in Basra dressing up as Arabs and shooting Iraqis in order to fuel ethnic tensions in the country.
