NCAA Week One

    So what did we learn after week one? It's way too early to tell for sure, but...

    Big 10 -- Very poor showing. Looks like the ACC is no longer the weakest of the power five conferences. OSU should sail through to the playoffs.

    ACC -- GT, FSU, Clemson, UM, etc. all came through. Not surprisingly, UVA and V Tech suffered losses, but against really good teams.

    SEC l -- Once again, incredibly tough conference. Only loss in the conference was Vandy. Big win by A&M.

    Big 12 -- Won the games it was supposed to, but some shaky starts by TCU and Baylor. Only two losses in the conference - KU (who is terrible) and UT to Notre Dame.

    Pac 12 -- Fighting with the Big 10 for worst opening weekend. Losses by ASU, Washington, Stanford and others makes one wonder about the overall strength of the conference.

    Any other thoughts out there??

    I was impressed with how Meyer handled the OSU triple threat QB situation. Finding ways to include Braxton Miller as a legitimate multipurpose weapon is going to pay huge dividends. Cardale deserves the starting spot easily. What's scary is that they aren't even at full strength yet and one of their few "danger" games is already well behind them. The only other big game will be against Michigan State and I have a hard time seeing OSU going down to them. There is no reason to think that they won't be able to position themselves for a repeat barring disaster.

    I was impressed with UCLA's QB who is as good as advertised. He will be on a Heisman watch list in a couple of years.

    Alabama should get a big year out of Henry at RB which should help alleviate their QB situation.

    It's going to be a fun ride.

    Since I'm boycotting the Vikings, at least until Adrian Peterson doesn't play for them anymore, and since my son is now attending the University of Minnesota, I've become more of a Gophers football fan. They put up a good fight against #2 TCU, eventually losing 23-17. Either the Gophers have a great defense or TCU isn't that good (I suspect it's a little bit of both.)

    But yeah, I agree that OSU will skip through the Big 10 schedule.

    I wish I had more to contribute but college football has been on my backburner for a long time. No more.

    Go Tennessee Vols!

    SEC--Once again, incredibly tough conference.

    Only loss in the conference was Vanderbilt University.

    Many of the people in my church are Vanderbilt fans simply because it's in Nashville.

    While, Vanderbilt lost, the Tennessee Volunteers (who played against Bowling Green [OH] State Univ., right here at Nissan Stadium--the re-named home of the Tennessee Titans) pulled off a rather impressive win.

    While UT Knoxville still has a long way to go, at least they did make it to #25 in the NCAA ratings.

    I feel that Tennessee may be a ways away but I still think they are going to surprise some people this season and catch a few teams napping.

    Ten of the SEC teams are in the Top 25. First time ever for a conference to have this many. Not sure how long this will last, but it's impressive.

    The PAC12 has 4 teams out of 12 -- USC, UCLA, Oregon and Utah. Not bad.

    The Big 12 has 3 teams out of only 10 -- TCU, Baylor and OK State. Not bad.

    ACC has only 3 teams out of 14 -- GT, FSU and Clemson, and none in the Top 10. Embarrassing.

    The Big 10 has only 2 teams out of 114 -- OSU and MSU in the top 25. Very embarrassing.

    Can't imagine why Christians would support Vanderbilt.

    Every story that comes out about them is about them pulling some liberal, politically correct stunt.

    Oklahoma just beat my UT Vols! :( In OT as UT has a habit of not finishing the big games, choking in the last second.
