"God’s question to Adam still sounds in the ear of every sinner: ‘Where art thou?’ It is the call of Divine justice, which cannot overlook sin. It is the call of Divine sorrow, which grieves over the sinner. It is the call of Divine love. which offers redemption from sin. To each and to every one of us the call is reiterated, ‘Where art thou?’"

Everything recorded in Genesis 3 has far more than a local significance. God’s attitude and action there were typical and characteristic. It was not Adam who sought God, but God that sought Adam. And this has been the order ever since. "There is none that seeketh after God" (Romans 3:11).

It was God who sought out and called Abram while yet an idolater. It was God who sought Jacob at Bethel when he was fleeing from the consequences of his wrong doing. It was God who sought out Moses while a fugitive in Midian.

It was Christ who sought out the apostles whilst they were engaged in fishing, so that He could say, "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you." It was Christ who, in His ineffable love, came to seek and to save that which was lost. It is the Shepherd who seeks the sheep, and not the sheep that seek the Shepherd. How true it is that "We love Him because He first loved us." O, that we might appreciate more deeply the marvellous condescension of Deity in stooping so low as to care for and seek out such poor worms of the dust.

(Taken from A.W. Pinks Gleanings in Genesis)

I agree and God sought me and according to Romans 3:11 There is NONE that seeketh after God... Brother Glen

Amen to all of the above. AWP saturated himself in Scripture.

God changes the will of defiant sinners. Most synergists deny that in their argumentations, but reverse course in their prayers.

I like Isaiah 65:1a:"I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me..."

And that is repeated in Ro. 10:20 :"I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."

You mean that the phrase "Rippon's right" has been openly admitted on this occasion?

I've got three of Pink's books, his Gleanings in Exodus, Gleanings in Joshua, and his The Sovereignty of God.

All three of them have been in my library for over 50 years.

Brother Glenn, I liked most of the Pink quote, but I strongly disagree with his statement that God, "offers redemption from sin". The gospel is a declaration that Christ has redeemed His people from their sins, not an offer or invitation to redemption, wouldn't you agree? " Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." (Hebrews 9:12)

I agree Brother Joe "which offers redemption from sin"... There is never according to scripture any offers of redemption from sin that I know of... There was an offering and the offering was by the blood of Jesus Christ... I remember a song we sang in church, "Jesus Paid It All", All to him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow... I remember a book by Hussey called "Gods operation of grace but no free offers"... That being said we do not put our faith in any mans writings if it goes contrary to scripture as all men are fallible as Brother Joe pointed out... Only in the written word of God do we see the truth... Brother Glen

Is this a direct quotation from one of Pink's books, or is it from someone else?

If it's from one of Pink's books, I'd like to know what the title and copyright date is. I'm asking for this information because if it's a quotation from one of Pink's books, it strikes me as being completely different from what he wrote in his book The Sovereignty of God [(c) 1930 by I. C. Herendeen; 4th ed., 1949].

In this book, Pink goes to great lengths to defend his position--which some would classify as being very extreme "hyper Calvinism."

I personally wouldn't call his views on the sovereignty of God as radical as "very extreme 'hyper Calvinism,' but I'd say that, except for possibly some of his views on reprobation, Pink is more a centrist on the doctrines of grace.

Much of what draws some of the arguments from the free-willers has to do with semantics--like what does the word "all" mean in certain passages. In The Sovereignty of God, Pink goes to some extent to criticize the expression "I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior."

According to Pink, he would use the expression "I received Jesus Christ as my Savior."

In Pink's eyes, if you're a saved person, you didn't "accept" Christ as your Savior. If you acted independently of God merely by claiming that if you could "accept" Christ as Savior, then according to Pink, you could just as easily "reject" Him as Savior as well.

Hi Brother,

You will have to ask Brother Glenn where he got the quote from, he is the one that originally posted it starting the thread. I only quoted from his original post.

I agree with Pink if you are saved you are saved... OSAS myself!... So according to your response on Pinks comment In The Sovereignty of God, the comment he makes in Gleanings in Genesis doesn't make sense... How can you contradict what you infactically declare the truth in one and error in the other... Does not make sense... Maybe it was a typo in publication?... Brother Glen
