Verses 1-6 the beginning of the Olivet discourse,
4-6 don't be deceived many shall come in the name of Christ and we have seen many through History. Recently those like David Koresh have said they were the one and came in the name of Christ. Others have come claiming new prophecies etc... it goes on and on. Many have been deceived by them. We hear continually of wars and rumors of wars, these should not trouble us for all this must come to pass. But the end of time is not yet that is time for man doesn't end. Then we see nations rising against nations and famines pestilence and earthquakes in different places all that we see even today. As the increase it singles a time coming. All these are the beginnings of sorrows. 1-8

Many see this point here as the Rapture of the church. The church Snatched away right before the beginning of trial as we see in verse 8 of Matthew 24, taken out so as to be kept from the hour of temptation that is the hour of or time of tribulation which is coming upon all the world. We see that time of trial Revelation 4-5 shows the church in Heaven and the we have chapter 6 and the beginning of the Tribulation. From that point on the church is not mentioned until we see her again in Chapter 19 as the Bride who has prepared herself.

We see those who trust in Christ after the Rapture will be be delivered up to affliction and death. Many in the Tribulation who are saved will be killed and hated for the name of Christ. The ultimate in False Prophets will rise in this time. A time of great iniquity as it was in Noah's time and in the time of Lot at Sodom and the 5 surrounding cities. While in this time the 144,000 will be preaching the kingdom in the world for a witness unto all nations then the end comes. The two witnesses seen in Revelation preach during the Great Tribulation that is the last 3 1/2 years. for 1260 days they preach and all hear them. Then the Abomination of Desolation is set up. Israel and believers flee into the wilderness. During this time that is at the same time the 2 witnesses are preaching the gospel and the others who are saved the greatest Tribulation known to the world is occurring. Except that time be shortened which is the last 3 1/2 years is a short time no flesh would be saved if it went longer. But for the sake of the elect of that time it is shortened. Verse 28 we see in fulfilled in Revelation 19-21. Immediately after the tribulation of those the sun and moon are darkened, the stars of heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in Heaven,

Heaven opens the sign of the Son of Man coming, and He comes full force. Then the elect of the Tribulation are gathered. Then shall two together the one taken the other left. We see this fulfilled in

All of Matthew 24 fits perfectly with the events on Revelation.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. Mt 24:34

    1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show unto his servants, even the things which must shortly come to pass: and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John;
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein: for the time is at hand. Rev 1

6 And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angels to show unto his servants the things which must shortly come to pass.
7 And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not up the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.
12 Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is.
20 He who testifieth these things saith, Yea: I come quickly. Amen: come, Lord Jesus Rev 21

Yes, of course, Revelation contains all the events of Mt 24, plus some.

Matt. 24:8. "All these are the beginning of sorrows."
How on earth do you get a pre-trib rapture out of that??

    Matthew 24:

All these are the beginnings of intolerable anguish. The greek odin or odeen others have odinon, that word translates,

Intolerable anguish in reference to the dire calamities precede the advent of the Messiah. In other words preceding His 2nd advent there is a time of great anguish coming.

Since Christ promised in Revelation 3:10, that the church would be kept from the hour of peirasmos the time of trial by God of mankind. That the great time of Tribulation then Matthew 24:8 would be the beginning of that time of trial or trouble the time of intolerable anguish coming.

One thing is very clear before the coming of the Lord there will be a great time of Anguish coming upon the earth. Now the post Mil folks by what they believe will have all believers of that time going through that time of intolerable anguish. Why would God put those of the end of the age through that. Especially considering they have been faithful and since Christ promised those who kept the word of His patience that is those who have believed on Him those who remained faithful to divine truth, those who keep the word of His patience will be kept from that time of great anguish which is coming upon the whole earth. Then at the point where Christ states it is the beginning of it the church would be taken out. The events which He describes in verses 4-7 and Mark 13:5-8, become more and more frequent then the church would be taken out in fulfillment of Christ promise to those who keep the word of His patience and the believers of the church age will not experience the time of great anguish. Or as Rev. 3:10 states the time of trial, which is the Tribulation Period.

Now I take Christ for His word. He said their is a time of great anguish coming upon the earth. He also said that those who keep the word of His patience will not go through the time of trial that is the hour of temptation as the KJV has it. The time of trial as the ASV has it, The hour of tentation as the 1599 GNV translates, hour of testing from the NASB, the mounce says hour of testing. All make it clear Christ promised the church that is believers of this specific period both Jew ish and Gentile believers who comprise the church of this age which started at Pentecost that they would not endure the hour, time of trial which was coming upon the whole earth, the point in Matthew 24 where we see the beginning of trials or sorrow is verse 8, so what can be concluded? The church would be raptured out. That is where some folks see the rapture in this chapter of Matthew and Mark.

It is a shame you keep beating your head against the wall when scripture is clear there will be a Rapture, there will be a tribulation, there will be a 2nd Advent and a Kingdom. It must hurt beating your head against wall trying to bend scripture to fit your doctrine. Glad I don't have that problem.

The first verse of Matthew says he's talking to his disciples and it applied to them only... You can say what you want but look at these following verses... Is he telling us this applies to us now?... I don't think so!

Matthew 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

This is talking about the time of the disciples not now and you can't explain these verses away although many attempt to... It was then not now... Brother Glen

Well considering these verses apply to the Tribulation and I myself being saved will either have passed away or been caught up to meet Him in air will not need to be concerned with these passages. Verses 16-22 are for the Tribulation saints both Jew and Gentile who have been saved after the Church is removed.

So anything He said to them applied only to them? When He spoke only to Paul about coming for the church and meeting the believers in the air and Paul writing it to the Thessalonian Saints addressing it them it only applies to them, so then why do we read scripture none of it would apply to us if we take that it was only meant for the ones spoken to or written too. They ask Christ to tell them what was going to come about, He simply told them.

Of course verses 1 & 2 were short term prophecies concerning the coming of destruction to Israel as she would be set aside for a season. The Temple would indeed and was totally destroyed but the end of time for man was not accomplished then. We still see false prophets come and go. What didn't occur was the setting up of the abomination of desolation. What didn't occur was 1/3 of the people of the earth were not destroyed, what didn't occur was another 1/4 were not destroyed. And then we didn't see the Israelites cleaning up bodies after Gog and Magog swept down, the sons of Meschah(sp) ( Moscow) and Tubal (tubolsk), with the people of Gomer (Germanic tribes). Not on bit of that has occurred.

His short term prophecy was fulfilled thus proving Christ Jesus as a true prophet. The events after verse 2 were long term prophecies concerning the end of the world.

The usual meaning of the Greek word odin, translated 'sorrows' in Matt. 24:8 is 'labour pains' or 'birth pangs' or 'travails.'.
If we then consider Romans 8:22 and the surrounding verses, we can see that these travails were going on in Paul's time and will continue until our Lord returns. From all the sorrows and anguish of this present world, something wonderful is slowly coming to birth.

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: This pinpoints a specific location to the disciples at that time. You want to throw in all these other senarios you are welcome to them... This is past history not future... Brother Glen

Here we see yet a future time in which Israel the woman will flee into the wilderness,

The dragon of course is satan. The woman is the one who bore a man-child, that is nation Israel of whom Christ came out of. She flees into the wilderness just as Christ said will happen.

    Here is what He stated:

Upon here fleeing we see this occur:

A leader comes out of the nations of the world, the beast an evil dictator coming out of the sea and ruling a nation who has been seen as dead yet comes back to life. Who will set up:

    WE see

This of image is of course worshiped by almost all. Is believed to be set up in the Temple in Jerusalem which the second beast the false Messiah sets up. The second Beast comes out of the land which is nation Israel. Thus fulfillment of Matthew 24 which has not yet taken place. Jesus' long term prophecy fulfilled.
