    The title sort of says it: what is your "go to" daily Bible study translation? And just as importantly, why?

    Personally, early in my walk, I stuck with the KJV for a long time. I then went to the NASB and NRSV for daily devotional, and a few others (e.g., NKJV, ASV, RSV, NLT, etc.) thrown into the mix for various reasons. Now I mainly stick with the NRSV for daily reading. I still have my grandmother's KJV, which she gave to my ma, who gave it to me. It is well worn, but a treasured copy of the Word.

    I use the NASB95 as my "go to" study bible. I own copies of the KJV, NKJV, ESV, NIV and older versions of the NASB.

    I use an old Scofield KJV's concordance. But I don't bother with the notes. I remember the late Dr. Cedarholm's comment on the Scofield:

    I use both print and digital copies of the ESV Study Bible and the Nelson Study Bible NKJV. Really enjoy both.

    I just love the poetry of the King James version. Sometimes though, it can be difficult to wade through. I usually study in my Revised Standard Version. It's much easier to understand. I don't care for the extremely simple translations such as The Living Bible, but it's just a matter of personal preference.

    It's nice to see some new faces here!

    I change bibles every few years to keep things fresh.
    I currently study from the NIV - mainly because it's the bible that most of the people use in the Sunday Adult class I help teach.
    It makes reading easy and enjoyable.

    My main Bible is the ESV but I will use the KJV and NASB in my study as well.

    My main translation is the NIV. But I consult a number of other versions too.

    Study/reading is NKJV. Teaching is NKJV. Preaching is either KJV or ESV, and occasionally the NKJV. (Note a pattern here? I like the NKJV! :) )

    I am a KJV or NKJV fan myself but that is admittedly passed down from my Grandmother. I do see times when I need some things clarified from those versions. I personally just prefer to sit down with two, three or even more versions sprawled out across my floor and just study and compare them all. that way I feel like I am getting the best understanding that I can.

    Wow, the ESV and the ESV. Maybe you use different editions. You should also use different editions of the NIV. Along with the 84 version, you should pick up a copy of the 2011 edition.

    My personal preference has come to be the NLT se Illustrated Study Bible published by Tyndale House.

    It gives me notes that I find informative and useful.

    I have used other "Study Bibles" in the past. Some were really useful to me while others were....well, you know.

    Of course no "Study Bible" comes without a certain slant of its author(s); thus we should keep in mind that---as useful as its comments, etc., may be--what has already been posted above, i.e., Only the actual text of the Word of God is inspired and infallible!

    Sadly, even translations have slants, some more than others. The New World Translation springs to mind. So called functionally equivalent translations open the door wide for slanting, thus formal equivalence versions come closest to presenting God's actual message.

    Although it's based on the CT, it uses more Byzantine readings than would be expected. The HCSB runs a close second in that regard. Philip W. Comfort has pointed that out.
