...... of the book of the living," Psalm 69:28.

Please help me to understand what the psalmist (apparently David) was trying to tell his readers.

Was/Is there, in fact, a "book of the living"?

Is such a "book" a literal book as we mortals perceive a book to be, i.e., with bound covers and pages?

In what language is a person's name written therein?

Is this book the same as other book(s) such as is mentioned in Revelation 13, 17, and 20?

If one's name can, in fact, be blotted out of this/these book(s) "of the living," how does this harmonize with the doctrine of salvation by grace and/or "eternal security" and/or the "Preservation of the Elect" and/or "OSAS"?

When exactly was this book written?

Can there ever be any "revisions" to this book, and, if so, on what basis/bases would such "revisions" be made..... and by whom would they be made?

Please understand that the above questions are asked in all humble sincerity.

I have been asked these questions in the past, and, more than likely, will be asked in the future.

Possibly some of my fellow BB posters have been asked some (or all) of them as well.

I will look forward to reading your replies to any/all of these questions, especially those with specific Bible references.

    Thank you.

Personally, I see the 'book of the living' as being the Lamb's Book of Life. I do not believe one's name who is recorded in it will be blotted out. God is immutable and omniscience. If they are blotted out, would that not make Him not immutable?

I heard someone say their name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life when God saved them. The Pastor then said it was up to them to keep it written in there. :confused:EekRolleyesThumbsdown

I'm not disagreeing with your position, but it seems to be based on philosophical grounds. Do you see an explicit scriptural teaching along these lines?

this is really a tough issue to square what scripture states with systematic theology
