My wife and I met a homeless man a couple years back as he would come into the mall in the winter and hang out. We really tried to help him and became acquainted with him. He is now in a nursing center, very sick, CHF, prostate cancer, infection. I gave him a church business card a while back and he called me to tell me he is 'deteriorating' and told me where he is. Pray for us and him as we go see him, that we can share the Gospel in power and conviction - 1 Thess. 1.

I'm also praying for your friend and for you to keep your strength and faith in a sad and worrying time like this.

I've worked with the homeless over here in the UK many times and some of the stories we get told are truly heart breaking.

Bill is in the hospital again, ICU. This man has lead a life of drunkenness which has lent toward his demise. Has church background. Hopefully can talk to him today.

We just got back from speaking with Bill. He has stated he has been going to church, so we got past the religious rhetoric and to the matter at hand.

I asked him if he is born again, and he stated emphatically 'No'. This man is on his death bed by the way. He understands the Gospel as far as assent to facts.

After speaking to him on this I asked him about repentance and belief being two evidences of conversion, and asked which of the two he hasn't experienced. He said 'Both'. We then prayed with him after I urged him to beg the mercy of God on him unto repentance and belief in the Gospel so that he knows he is converted. At this point he looked at me with some gravity and concern. We then prayed and left and I am looking for another opportunity, and to see God drawing Him to Himself, Lord willing.

Please pray for Bill. Thank you.

I pray that this man's heart is changed towards God and that he can find himself in God's presence soon. :(

God knows this mans heart, and I pray that he does come to a saving faith (if he hasn't already) before it is to late.

I saw a family member literally on his death bed, refuse to acknowledge Christ. I couldn't understand why someone wouldn't even take a shot at salvation at that point. It probably wouldn't be a true conversion, but maybe it would be, we can't judge their heart, just present the Gospel to them.

Then it is between them and the Holy Spirit

Thanks Ann. We met him a while back and he calls me to let me know how he is which is how we knew he was in the hospital.

In a former job I was around the homeless/beggars a lot. The professional beggars I had no use for because they were just taking advantage of folks with good intentions. They also made it harder for those who were homeless and really needed a little extra help, because of the distrust they caused.

The homeless are not a group to fear, many were what we might call normal before life got them down. Some I knew just liked being out of the system, and chose to be homeless. Others had it forced on them.

One thing we all have in common with them, is the need of Jesus as our Savior, because in God's eyes we are all sinners.

We were glad for the candor and honesty of Bill concerning his spiritual state. He held to no false hopes that he prayed a prayer and was going to heaven, he has lived a lifestyle of drunkeness and it was no time for guile.

I guess I misunderstood. I will continue to pray for him and hope that he does come to find God and make him a part of his every day life.
