    It is greed and it is greed by corporations and the politicians they buy that drives them to higher profits and the next election. It is greed that drives folk who say they are Christian to oppose measures to help those in our society who are in need.

    It is greed that drive some people to abuse government programs for personal gain.

    It is greed that drives people to oppose people be paid a livable wage when they work, but complain when those same people apply for help simply because they are not paid enough to live on.

    Could put more reasons, but it is     unnecessary.

    Maybe but it is certainly dishonest

    No one opposes a "living wage". Some do oppose government dictation on the matter. It takes away freedom and someone who cannot live off a wage McDonalds gives to run a cash register needs to go get another job that provides for their needs. Not     every job needs to be able to pay top wages.

    I believe the complaint is that there is no plan to help them be self sufficient.

    If there was a proposal on the table to eliminate all funding for the arts, museums, and libraries and instead utilize those funds to feed the poor, would you support that proposal?

    and it is greed by an employee to be paid more for a job - then that job is worth.

    Hmmm, doesn't hold Salty. The employee may be greedy and want a wage that is higher than the job is worth, but it is the employer who determines the wage.

    Is it greed when an employer knowingly underpays his employees?

    Greed is a state of mind, or at least a "thing" that does not discriminate!

    IOW, it's no matter the individual's personal circumstance, the attitude toward materialism is the determiner of greed, not position or status or actual wealth

    No. The wage paid would not be that if there had not been such an agreement. Anyway, all this is based on what? It's not a living wage ifyou can't afford a new suv? If you can't upgrade to a different apartment from which you ARE LIVING in now?

    It is the market that determines the wage. It is unsustainable to pay wages for a product or service that the market will not buy at to high a wage.
