Some people keep the ashes of their cremated relatives or pets, but life is not found in ashes, life is found in Jesus Christ, the source of all life. Everything that we cling to will eventually become dust.

    Genesis 3:19 KJV
[19] In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art , and unto dust shalt thou return.

    Ecclesiastes 3:18-20 KJV
[18] I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. [19] For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. [20] All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

    Ecclesiastes 12:7-8 KJV
[7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. [8] Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

But is found in Jesus Christ
    1 John 5:11-13 KJV
[11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

My Christian friends, this is more than some eternal life that's far off in the future, we have spiritual life now in Jesus Christ, we don't have to wait till we die to have joy and peace that passes all understanding.

    Luke 9:59-60 KJV
[59] And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. [60] Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

Christian friends, stop worrying about the things dead people worry about, shut off your entertainment and get busy serving the Lord.

What other options are there. You can spread them around like some do, or place them in some sort of cemetery setting.

My personal plan is to be cremated, and then my wife's and my remains to be placed in a cemetery, so someone that never even knew us, doesn't have to worry what to do with us in 50 years. It just hit me, I could still be around in 50 years, but by that time, I would be the one who couldn't remember us. :(

The OP mentions the eternal life we have now, the earthly body is of no use once the spirit has left it.

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem to me that the point of the OP is to condemn the practice of cremation. I think it was meant to be an example, saying clinging to life's temporary pleasures is as useless as holding onto ashes from a dead body. (But please correct me if wrong.)

I didn't really finish my first post, but I didn't take the OP as if they were condemning cremation. I took it as it didn't matter if we held onto the remains because the life was not in them. That we needed to focus on the life we have, and living that for the Lord.

My wife has been instructed to cremate me, but keep one eye.

She is to have the urn made, so that the eye can be placed in it so I can look out. That way I can keep an eye on her. :)

Actually, she will probably scatter me in which the dirt for the rose bushes, they represent the thorny side of me.

Then, again, I will probably be tucked into her loving arms when she dies. We did that with her brother who we kept until her mom died.

I got tickled at this sentence from the OP:
    I didn't know dead people "worry." :)

Amen I agree. It's pretty pointless to hold onto those things. We do need to be busy serving the Lord. Eternity is what really matters, and knowing Jesus.

My Mother is lost, and she paid for the vet to give her the ashes from her dead cat.
I made it a point to explain to my mom that there is no life in ashes, and that life is found only in Jesus.

My main point is how earthly and temporal many on this earth are and to remind all of us that we will return to the dust, so we need to "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man"

This was not really about cremation. Though I probably lean against the practice, the biblical example is always burial, though I'm not sure if I would condemn cremation as a practice.

The spiritually dead worry about a lot of things, all to their own shame and many to hell.
