Two States of the Union, One Target: Donald Trump

White House Praises Nikki Haley After She Targeted Donald Trump
"The Obama administration appears pleased by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s response to the president’s State of the Union address – especially after she urged her party to avoid the harsh tone of presidential candidate Donald Trump."

Trump looms behind both Obama and Haley speeches
"Donald Trump was not in the room during U.S. President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union speech, but the Republican presidential front-runner was a looming presence nonetheless.

Both Obama’s speech on Tuesday and, for that matter, the Republican response by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, took pains to rebuke Trump, the real estate billionaire whose red-hot rhetoric has endeared him to some and dismayed others in the campaign for the Nov. 8 presidential election...."

I'm thinking this amounts to free media exposure for Trump who will certainly make hay with it. "Both sides" are fearful of the populist movement arising with Trump. I'm thinking there may be a serious shake-up of the 'establishment' in the making and "both sides" are getting desperate to squelch it.

Hillary does not poll well against Trump, although the GOP bosses are threatening to stay home on election day but Trump polls well with Democrats. With the Indiana primary not until May, I cannot recall a primary that was still competitive when Indiana voted. So the party will pick the winner by March and I will only be able to vote against Trump in a meaningless ballot in May.

With the news media overshadowed by the actual primary elections next month, now we will find out if Trump can turn out the vote. It looks as if Trump will lose Iowa but his stand for the ethanol boondoggle might be enough to "buy" the farm vote for him.

There was a poll, today I think, that put Trump back in the lead in Iowa. Anyway, 'the fat lady ain't sung yet' and I'm enjoying watching the commotion he's causing among "both sides".

It may well be that him becoming POTUS would be worth it just for the shake-up within "the establishment" it would bring about. I ponder the sort of revelations that would come to surface if he were in office because he's not afraid to tell it, and I guarantee you that "both sides" dread even the thought of that. Ron Paul would have brought many things to light had he ever become POTUS.

Yeah, you're right--Trump is polling better in Iowa. It could be that the vested interests of agriculture in keeping the corn subsidy might be enough to throw the Midwest to Trump. Who said that farmers were honest?
