Many Many times I have denied to myself that I have been saved, but yet I know that Jesus died on the cross in order that I do not have to suffer the pain that He bore, I have experienced the high of Christian belief and yet tasted the depravity of the low of lows, I am tormented yet not beyond Biblical suffering, I always return to the Truth of God but feel unworthy . I know now that belief and solid Biblical Fellowship will encourage me, answers from others of like minded torment will be worthy .

I think that doubting our salvation is a normal experience for most people, especially when we stumble. When I was in my late 20's I experienced a crisis of faith. I had been saved at a young age, but when I left home my life was not apparently Christian (I wasn't living an obviously sinful life, but I also was not exhibiting Christ in my life). I wondered if I had been saved because at that age I didn't fully appreciate the evil of sin and had never contemplated exactly how God elected men, and I did not have a developed theology. I was only a child. What I realized was that had been saved through that simple faith and repentance, but I was failing to mature. As I get older, some things seem to get harder (like reading the instructions on medicine bottles that I now have to take or give up bacon). But some things seem more comfortable as I can see how past struggles have strengthened by faith and deepened my understanding. My point is that as a child of God, whatever comes our way is not God's wrath. It may be his discipline, but it's purpose is to refine us more and more into the image of Christ. We are unworthy...that is why it is grace.

I feel we as children of God are afraid to share our inter most feelings and fear that other brethren will say we are weak... When we say how we are tormented and feel so unworthy and we know and understand when Paul said Oh wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from the body of this death... So many times I think of my past sins and it rips my heart and soul to its very core... I think Lord do I belong to you?... Why would the creator of the universe care for me I am nothing... I fall... I rise to fall again over and over I repeat the process... Some say well there is evidence that you are not saved... There is also evidence I am!... One of my favorite poems is Footprints... Where the one following the Lord looks and see only one set of footprints where before they always saw two... So they inquire of the Lord thinking the Lord had left them... Oh no said the Lord where you see one set of footprints is where I carried you!... Another one a painting and sculpture that is very powerful has the risen Christ supporting the limp sinner in his arms who has in one hand the hammer and in the other one the nails... Our loving Savior is holding the one he was crucified for in his arms... It is wonderful to converse with brethren who feel as you feel and understand the beauty of Amazing Grace because there is not a lot of them that do and how it impacts you when you finally come to the truth... Brother Glen
