Now as soon as some see this thread there going to think this is a post about giving in the church... How wrong you are!... Guess again?... I do not know about other Christian on here but growing up a Baptist... Our church or worship service went like this... Singing, Praying, Preaching and Eating!... After worship service or even before Gods children work up an appetite and do church people love to eat... And if you are anything like me you always looked for new culinary fair at the breakfast, lunch or dinner table and loaded up your plate... I know in my church COULD THOSE SISTERS COOK!... My favorite was Chicken and Dumplings among other dishes including dessert... I would load up my plate and dig in and fill my belly!... What do you remember at yours?... One day I will sit at the Lords table!... I wonder what will be on the menu?... I can't wait to see!... Brother Glen

Growing up in the north surrounded by farmland, we had some wonderful cooks in our church. I would always look forward to the fried chicken at the church potluck dinners. Unfortunately, working in the bus ministry, by the time we got back to the church, the good food was pretty well picked over. There always seemed to be some spaghetti or lasagna left that I would fill up on. To this day I love Italian food!

I heard our Baptist brethren refer to fried chicken as the gospel bird!... I guess its because if their is no fried chicken on the table can you really consider yourself a Baptist Church?Wink ... Brother Glen

    I always liked Huckabee's anecdote:

In grade school, he was asked to bring a symbol of his faith to a show-and-tell on religion. One student brought a crucifix, another brought a menorah. "I brought a casserole in a covered dish," he says.

Growing up Baptist, we only had "dinner on the grounds" on Homecoming Sundays. On other Sundays, we were looking at our watches, hoping that we would beat the Methodists to the restaurants.

At our current church, we have Sunday dinner together more often. Occasionally, we'll have food trucks so that we can eat together but not have to worry about cooking.
