Most of all who post here would agree that God is Omnipotent ans most would agree that God created for 6 days, so the question here , for my first post is: Why did take so long? We all agree He could accomplished the same creation in a instant, What are your thoughts on this matter?

Well, that was before his union pushed for time and a half after 40 hours.

As a omnipotent omniscient God, of course He does as He wants, but why would He want to accomplish in six days(Hebrew "yowm") what He could have completed in an instant. What was the purpose? Why the delay?

Job 38:7 says the angels were surprised and happy.

We also know God does not seek counsel from the created.

I believe it was a model for His creation. It gives us direction and limits in our own work. He was methodical and had a plan and didn't just create willy nilly and it is something for us to learn from in our own work. :)

God doesn't do anything willy nilly. If as you present, the lesson would have been more effective if we were there to see the events. Do you agree

Not at all. His Word should be sufficient for instruction.

I would agree with the view that it was for the purpose of structure, which is seen in the week, and utilized in regards to ceremony under the Law.

As a Young Earth Creationist, I also believe this model represents the duration of the physical Universe, lol, but I am one of the few who do any more.

Have you heard of this expansion theory of creation that suggest following Einstein's theory , the expansion of the universe ,would have only been six days if moving from the center point of creation to the extreme distance now. However if not moving from the center would seem very very long, So six days is correct and many many years is correct, just different points of view. I do not buy it as presented because I think Gen is written from God's POV. which is neither position

And I would agree with you.

One theory presented which I think has some merit (and not smart enough to know if it is related to what you speak of here, lol) is the Theory of Time Dilution, which suggests that the further we move from the center of gravity (and in this context we would make Earth or the sun the center point)...the faster time runs. This arose when it was noticed that the nuclear clocks, which were at different relations to sea level, had to be calibrated. I think the one in England moving slower than the one in Denver (and I am just running on what I remember, so some of these "facts" might be in error, but I mention this just to illustrate the theory).

If that were true, then it would supply an answer to the argument that the universe has to be billions of years old because it would take many light years for the light of the further stars to reach us. All of this is moot from a Young Creationist View because we are told light was created instantaneously, thus, the thought that the very bodies given to regulate the seasons (from our perspective) were created for that purpose but somehow the Lord forgot to make them visible to us is just ridiculous, lol.

That is probably the same theory, but I thought it had to do with the speed of expansion as related to the stationary ? center.

but I don't believe the narrative in Gen relates to all things , just the story of redemption. And I trust God when He used the Word "yown" that is what He meant.

I have not, and probably never will, spend time trying to work my way through the musings of men, lol. And again, not sure if I am smart enough to understand it is I did.

    ;)

For me, I am satisfied with what Genesis states, and try not to overcomplicate it because I think I need a response to the unbelieving. And I refer to those who either reject Genesis outright or have bought into Theistic Evolution, or deny the possibility of a literal Six Day Creation.

You are not alone in that, Tom, many have given the Account an analogous meaning. But I take it as literal, and take the Six Days as they are provided in Genesis. We see that reiterated here:

    Exodus 20:10-11

    King James Version (KJV)

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The basic point being that when this was/is spoken to the people the context is pretty clear. "You are to keep the (literal) seventh day holy because in six (literal) days God made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is."

And I would have to know what context you refer to yowm in before I could comment, disagree, or agree.

    God bless.

Right, but your statement does not reveal the context you hold it in. The options could be a period of time, a specific time. a twenty four hour period, or even the part of day when there is daylight. So I can't comment on that statement apart from what context you hold it in.

    God bless.

The period of time may be more one day ,as in
    Isa 61:2
    To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

In Isaiah 19 " in that day" is repeated, It does not mean only one day but "age "

It is translated "year" 14 times continually 10 times and even "always"
