Trump was put on the spot when he was asked what he would do if the U.S. military failed to carry out his unlawful orders. Instead of saying he wouldn't issue unlawful orders, that he would support and defend the U.S. Constitution, which as president would be his sworn duty to uphold, Trump boasted that the military would follow his orders no matter what.

America: those are the words of a dictator.
    ===================================================
Our military does not follow blindly orders issued by "The Leader." Our military swears an oath to the Constitution. We swear to uphold the law of the land. We don't swear allegiance to a single man (or woman) as president.

Trump's performance last night reminded me of Richard Nixon's infamous answer to David Frost about Watergate: "When the president does it, that means it's not illegal." No, no, a thousand times no. The president has to obey the law of the land, just as everyone else has to. No person is above the law, an American ideal that Trump seems neither to understand nor to embrace.

And that disqualifies him to be president and commander-in-chief.

Sounds just like Obama. As the purge of general officers that disagree wih him continues unabated.

I am not a fan of Obama. However, he has never advocated the use of torture by our armed forces.

When I heard that in the debate, I just shuddered. And then when checked by the moderator, he doubled down and simply said "they will do what I say." Simply amazing. This is much more than simply being a narcissist; this is crazy talk.

Of course, he "clarified" his position the next day and changed his stance. I guess someone told him that torture is against the Geneva Convention (besides being morally reprehensible) and that he needed to (publicly) change course. The question is - what does he really think?

Boy, if the question was phrased that way, there is no right or wrong answer. You might as well ask billory if the armed forces defy her order to h-bomb Paris what she would do.

Research has shown that torture is a poor way to obtain information. You can gert a person to say anything simply to stop the torture. There are better psychological ways to obtain information.

Torture is not the subject of the OP. The real subject his Trump's disregard of the Constitution which he should uphold, but obviously believes should be
    subjugated to his will.

Rev. would Christ have used torture?
    Show me scripture justifying torture.

This is always the dumbest argument. If such a thing were to happen the thing they said can be verified.

Trump has not disregarded the constitution. He is not even in office.

Scripture does not address the issue. In fact what we should do in war is not even in view except the many times God sent Israel to war. Should we pull from those scriptures?

He used a whip to drive the crooked traders out of the temple. If that's NOT torture, then using whips is acceptable, ain't it?

Trump has since walked that statement back. Dems, you should enjoy Trump while you can because he is fading and Cruz is gaining.

Trump flip-flopped the next day and said he wouldn't order the military to do this sort of thing.

Torture is awful. Better if a Nobel Peace laureate sends a predator drone to kill you.

Obama disqualified himself when he said he wanted to fundamentally change the country. Nothing more unconsitutional than that.

    Rev, don't forget sodium pentothal.
When I was in the service many drugs were used to extract information from Charlie.

Why use torture on a terrorist when he can just have them killed by a remote controlled device, even if they are American citizens?
