MIAMI, FL—A local Calvinist’s sense of superiority has gotten so large it is now visible from low Earth orbit, a NASA correspondent reported Tuesday morning.

Yuri Malenchenko, a Russian cosmonaut aboard the International Space Station, spotted the dark structure as the vessel passed over the Southern United States late Monday afternoon Eastern Standard Time. His fellow crew members confirmed the sighting, saying the growth of the Calvinist’s smug sense of self-righteousness over his choice of theological system dwarfed all other objects visible with the naked eye at approximately 400 kilometers above sea level, casting a large shadow over Miami and surrounding areas.

The Calvinist in question was found to be local man John Patton, 23, whose recent discovery and adoption of Reformed theology has left him thinking of himself as better and more intelligent than everyone he knows.

Its called pride, rudeness, childishness, immaturity, ungodly, and arrogant. Diminishing it to "the cage stage" only works to down play the sin in order to justify the behavior.

I thought it was funny as we all have known someone in cage stage. And in my experience it's not limited to calvinism.

    The Calvinist motto:

"We may be doing it but they're doing it too."

The cage stage is the calvinists way of downplaying the so called stage win which the calvinist is rude and obnoxious. It is purported that this only occurs shortly after conversion to calvinism. In other words young calvinists are portrayed as being this. My experience is they either are or are not. It has nothing to do with how long they have been calvinists.

So, they are so rabidly Calvinistic that they need to be put into a cage?

Pretty much. I figures what the Babylonbee was doing was also poking a bit of fun at cage stage.

The cage stage is outside my experience. Frankly, I personally know few Calvinists —mostly modified Calvinists and Arminians or or even semi and full Pelagians or some unspecific soteriology. I came to accept the basic principles of Calvinism (I prefer to call it Augustinianism to separate it from the whole Remonstrants-Synod of Dort bruhaha) late in life and over many years. I have never felt my opinion was worth celebrating: I simply accept the doctrines as my best understanding of the New Testament and am no more certain of my fate than orthodox Arminians.

I have plenty of Rose of Sharon, Brother Glenn, but not lily of the valley or tulips. Rose of Sharon (hibiscus syriacus) grows wonderfully here. It started blooming in May this year, well ahead of schedule, like so many plants lulled into flower by the mild winter.
