Supreme Court blocks Obama immigration plan

The Supreme Court on Thursday blocked President Obama’s immigration executive actions, in a tie decision that delivers a win to states challenging his plan to give a deportation reprieve to millions of illegal immigrants.

The justices' one-sentence opinion on Thursday effectively kills the plan for the duration of Obama's presidency.

The 4-4 tie vote sets no national precedent but leaves in place the ruling by the lower court. In this case, the federal appeals court in New Orleans said the Obama administration lacked the authority to shield up to 4 million immigrants from deportation and make them eligible for work permits without approval from Congress.

Texas led 26 Republican-dominated states in challenging the program Obama announced in November 2014. Congressional Republicans also backed the states' lawsuit.

The case dealt with two separate Obama programs. One would allow undocumented immigrants who are parents of either U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents to live and work in the U.S. without the threat of deportation. The other would expand an existing program to protect from deportation a larger population of immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

The 4 that voted to allow this unconstitutional power grab should be disbarred.

This case was regarding a temporary injunction, the actual merits of the case will almost certainly end up being decided by SCOTUS. It will take some time to get up there again, so Election Day will decide its fate.

Vote Hillary unless you don't want his Dream Act upheld. This does it for me, Trump.

The Supreme Court didn't so much block Obama's immigration plan so much as the Supreme Court failed to overturn a lower court ruling. The Supreme Court ruling was a tie 4-4. When Hillary takes office, those four lawless ones will be joined by a fifth. Everything the Left wants, the Supreme Court will give them.

Even before the loss of Scalia, the court was dangerously tipped to the Left, as shown by the Supreme Court enshrining same-sex marriage as a government institution. Now, with the help of #NeverTrump Republicans, the Court is about to drag America over a cliff.

Democrats don't appoint judges. They appoint political activists. We've known this for decades, but some here are willing to destroy America through the Supreme Court just because they can't have what they want. Pitiful. Hillary gets elected...kiss the !st and 2nd Amendments good bye. Already under assault, they will be gutted entirely. Freedom of speech and religion will be a thing of the past.
