"Will California Ever Thrive Again?"

It will when the left wingers move back to the Northeast and the right wingers move back to the Old South. Both as they are constituted today are post WW2 phenomena.

 

First, carpro, remember California was a free state. The California Column pushed the Texas based Confederate forces out of Arizona and New Mexico in 1862. So, I speak with more than a little bias. IOW, though a conservative Californian, I am not a supporter of the lost cause.

 

California will survive. But not before going the way of Detroit. Once the economy collapses and the state is bankrupt, hopefully the working people, the tax paying people, the people who support the entire infrastructure, will wake up and realize the disaster is one of their own making.

That awakening will hurt. It may even be brutal. It may result in violence in the streets. But California will survive. (I, being a California born native, and having spent almost 40 of my 70 years in California, admit to more than just a slight bias.)

 

Unfortunately just dumping Moonbeam won't fix the problem. The radical left wing Democrats have a super majority in both the State Legislature and the State Senate.

 

For several months in 1936, the Los Angeles Police Department sent 136 deputies to the state line to turn back migrants who didn't have any money. Bordering states like Arizona were angry that California was trying to "dump hoboes" back on them. Eventually, the police returned to Los Angeles, and the migrants kept coming.

When I was still with the SDSO we patrolled an unincorporated "island" completely surrounded by National City. Lincoln Acres was settled in the 1930s almost exclusively by people fleeing Oklahoma during the dust bowl days.

 

Nope, living:

• where winter precipitation goes into the gutter and isn't shoveled or plowed.
• where decent inexpensive Chinese food is not considered exotic.
• where the hills turn brown in the summer.
• where you can tell east from west by either hitting the hills or the ocean.

 

Yep. I don't do snow.

Yep. Love the Peking Palace. Owned by a Chinese family for 5 generations. Great food. Very reasonable price. And good carne asada just down the street too.

They don't call California "The Golden State" for nothing. Everything turns golden brown around June.

Yep. Navigation made easy. Even without GPS.

 

I can remember as a child when my grandfather would come north from LA to visit we'd go out to the Wooey Loy Gooey Restaurant in Chinatown. My dad had spent WW2 in the 14th Air Force. So, he taught us how to use chopsticks.

 

And I was born in San Francisco in 1953. Except for eight years between the Coast Guard and College, I've been here ever since. All my relatives live within a two hours of the high tide mark of the Pacific. None of them have lived east of the Mississippi for over a hundred years or east of the Continental Divide for over ninety. In generational terms that takes me back to my greatgrand parents on both sides.
