    A sheriff is a political office, so that's one of the few uniform wearing positions that gets a pass. Otherwise, it's mostly inappropriate.

    I just dont like it -
    lead by example?
    Would Sheriff Clark have a problem if one his deputies wore his uniform to a pro-abortion rally and appeared in as an official spokesman?

    I have noted in the past that his uniform is somewhat gaudy, but that qualifies for a big "so what" as well. He wears it every day. He's proud of it. More power to him.

    But a deputy would not be the official spokesman. The Sheriff, and only the Sheriff, speaks for the Sheriff and the Sheriff's Department. :)
