A top aide to Donald Trump said Wednesday that the Republican presidential nominee "will not be releasing" his taxes.

"Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them," Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort told "CBS This Morning."

"It has nothing to do with Russia, it has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing process," Manafort added.
    ----------------

I now await the deafening clamor of all the Obama birthers and Obama college transcript conspiarcists to demand that Trump release his tax records. What's he hiding?

ITL, do you think that Trump is lying about his net worth?

I do not know if he is lying, but I do not believe him. I am usually skeptical of the claims of braggarts.

Considering the man lies about everything, I think he also lies about his net worth. Not that it will matter to his supporters.

In addition to telling lies about his net worth I also expect he does not want the voters to know that, using loopholes, he has never paid any taxes.

    From: https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...a2f63c-1b7c-11e6-b6e0-c53b7ef63b45_story.html

The disclosure, in a 1981 report by New Jersey gambling regulators, revealed that the wealthy Manhattan investor had for at least two years in the late 1970s taken advantage of a tax-code provision popular with developers that allowed him to report negative income.

He lies about everything else. Just today he said he had never met Putin, whereas last March during a televised debate he said he met him on the set of 60 Minutes.

If Trump is lying about something on his taxes I'd suspect it's charitable contributions. That is easily discovered by seeing his tax returns; net worth is something that could be inferred from his tax returns but not directly known, at least not as easily known as charitable contributions. Plus I think people would be less forgiving of lying about charitable donations vs. net worth. If the guy says he's worth $10 billion and it turns out it's more like $6 billion (for example), so what? But he and his son have said he's given millions to charity and if that isn't on his tax returns people would hold him accountable.

"So to be clear, Mr. Trump has no financial relationships with any Russian oligarchs?" CBS's Norah O'Donnell asked Manafort.

"That’s what he said, that’s what I said," Manafort responded. "That’s obviously what our position is."
    ------------

How does one have a "position" on the truth? Either he has or he hasn't. I wonder why that qualifier of "our position" was added?

    Might as well have said:
"That's obviously what our position is, for now."

How is all of your posts on Trump any different than R2D's many posts on race?

Gee, Rush, I'll have to think about that for awhile.

Your post is an attempt at deflection, diversion, and distraction.

Releasing Tax returns is NOT a Constitutional requirement.

Being a natural born citizen IS a Constitutional requirement.

Salty, you are right. However not releasing tax returns is probably not a good political move.

It reminds me when Bill Clinton declined to release his medical records--everyone said it might be because he had been treated for STDs.

A tax return doesn't show net worth. At worst, it'll show how little, like other billionaires, taxes he's paying, sucker.

Tax returns will not show net worth directly, but a lot of information about net worth can be learned from them. Enough to get a ballpark figure.

Yeah, or Harry Reid will just flat out lie about them and insinuate that there is malfeasance.

As usual, ITL, you're clueless. Tax returns tell next to nothing about net-worth.

I am not deciding how to vote until election day but I think the unkind remarks of Trump supporters detract from him as much as his own foolish statements such as his off-the-cuff remark about the former Gov. of New Jersey. I know that Trump never apologizes, but that also detracts from any notion of a gentleman in Donald Trump, but then we all know that it takes 3 generations to make a gentleman and that the Donald is the second generation. Maybe his children have manners--I know one of them is pro-choice and pro-gay-marriage.

You should get a clue. Google "IRS Schedule D", and "Schedule K-1". Imagine having 10 years worth of Trump's filings of these, just for starters. Then throw in real estate tax paid and mortgage interest paid from Schedule A, and you've got a good idea of net worth.

How many presidential candidate have released ten years of filings?

One of the perks of being rich is being able to keep income and expenses in corporations, and off of one own's tax return, in ways that wouldn't show up well on a K1 or SchD. Even if it did, these forms only show income, not wealth.
