I realize that this is a stretch, but with Trump trailing in the Polls (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/) and his claim that the election is rigged, could he be thinking about quitting the race? A claim of a rigged election would be a good excuse to walk away in protest, yet still declare that he was a "winner" (after securing his party's nomination).

The guy is a Top Grade Narcissist, and losing a high-profile election that he cannot win would be an embarrassment.

Were he to quit, and Pence take his place, I would be willing to vote Republican again.

Wouldn't that be something? He's making rumblings about maybe not wanting to do the debates. He said he would not support John McCain or Paul Ryan in their reelection bids. So who knows? (If I were Ryan and McCain I'd be giving a sigh of relief on the non-endorsement.)

    Oh absolutely! A real conservative.

Rush wondered weeks ago if he would drop -- that he only ran to try to get the big h to win.

I thought that Limbaugh was a full-on Trumpie...

(I do not listen to him. Cannot stand the guy.)

I have not seen the latest polls for his District, but I would be surprised if Ryan was not re-elected. He is well liked.

If Pence were against Clinton, I think that he would have a better chance of winning. Subtracting the Trumpies who would sit out in protest, I think that he would get more votes precisely because he is a Conservative...one who has a real record and can keep his mouth in check.

Just before the RNC Trump said he might not serve as President if he were elected.

I do not think that he will need to make that decision. If things continue, the voters will make it for him.

He needs to bow out. Someone needs to take the lead and convince him of this (Reince Priebus, are you paying attention?).

    This just in....

Senior officials in the Republican Party are "actively exploring what would happen if [Donald] Trump dropped out" and needed to be replaced on the ballot, ABC's Jon Karl reported on Good Morning America Wednesday.

Top GOP party members have reportedly reached a state of panic as it becomes increasingly clear that Trump's presidential pivot was a false promise. What's more, after several turbulent weeks for the campaign, Trump has said he is not ready to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan for re-election, nor Arizona Sen. John McCain.

"He is so unpredictable right now, they are so unable to control his message… they clearly think it's a possibility," Karl said.

But a celebration from the Never Trump crowd would be premature. "They can't force [Trump] out; he would have to go out voluntarily. And it would have to be the 167 members of the RNC through a complicated process to pick a new candidate. And it would have to happen by early September," Karl said.

If he quits, I bet that he does it before October Surprise Season begins. I suspect that it will be damaging to his ego.

On the other foot, I would not be surprised if he waited until a week or so before the Election just for the effect of the turmoil. I have long wondered if he was actually a DNC shill.
