A New York poll released Monday by Siena College found Donald Trump with only 55% support among his fellow Republicans in a head-to-head match against Hillary Clinton.

The poll showed Clinton, a former senator representing the state, with a 30-point overall lead over Trump, a lifelong New Yorker.

Trump's mentioned a number of times along the campaign trail that he would win New York in November.

"You know, no Republican other than me will campaign in New York," he said at a rally in Indiana in April. "They won’t campaign ... They assume that is lost. If somebody ever won New York, it totally, with the Electoral College, it totally changes the map. I think we will win New York. I really do."

The last time New York voted for a Republican candidate was 1984, when former President Ronald Reagan carried 49 states.

"Despite Trump’s claims to carry New York, the Empire State seems firmly planted on the blue side of the map, as Clinton holds a commanding 30-point lead in a head-to-head matchup and a similarly strong 25-point, two-to-one lead in a four-way matchup," Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said. "New Yorkers have voted Democratic in the last seven presidential elections and there does not appear to be a real threat to end that streak."

NY will be close - The City will go for Clinton - but if Upstate comes out in force - Trump will win.

No, nope, sorry. It won't be close in New York.

There's no point in betting. It wouldn't be fair. Trump will not win NY, period. That state is far too blue, and Trump's campaign is a dumpster fire anyway.

Here we go again with the internals:

This Siena College Poll was conducted August 7-10, 2016 by telephone calls conducted in English to 717 New York State registered voters. Respondent sampling was initiated by asking for the youngest male in the household. It has an overall margin of error of +/- 4.3 percentage points including the design effects resulting from weighting. - See more at: https://www.siena.edu/news-events/a...mp-to-30-points#sthash.Gn6cIjfy.b9VT15JM.dpuf

"Youngest male", way to get the college kids and single mothers to respond.

Regardless, she ought to win NY state, and I think she will win it around the margin (55-43) she beat Lazio years ago - probably from 8-14%. Salty, I know you live there but remember how many women in upstate NY turned out for her and took the pollsters by surprise, she is popular up there.
