Nearly 100 evangelical leaders have signed onto a letter urging their fellow Christians to vote against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who, they write, “has fueled white American nationalism with xenophobic appeals and religious intolerance at the expense of gospel values, democratic principles, and important international relationships.”

The letter was posted to Change.org on Thursday, and had nearly 5,000 signatures by midday Friday.

The evangelicals behind the letter do not necessarily endorse Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, they write ― but they are united in their opposition to Trump, who is working to maintain the Republican stronghold on the evangelical community.

Racism is America’s original sin. Its brazen use to win elections threatens to reverse real progress on racial equity and set America back.

Which is why I could never in good conscience vote for a Democrat. Their racism knows no bounds, and to use the propagation of racism to get elected threatens to reverse real progress on racial equality.

I saw this earlier today. I did not recognize most of the names on there, and those I did I would consider liberal evangelicals. But with this election conservative evangelicals have given away all moral high ground. As per the norm, the only response has been, Hilary is bad too, which would work if there were people telling me that I have some kind of moral obligation to vote for her, but I don't. I already know she is bad, but what I fail to see is how Trump is any better, and the more I'm told I'm told I must surrender all moral high ground to vote for him, the less inclined I will be to do so. It is a sad day in Christendom when loyalty to the Republican party is deemed a greater virtue than Biblical values, and worth sacrificing those values for.

Just sounds like another group of closet liberals trying to play the propaganda racism card. I have little use for anyone who calls themselves "Evangelicals" if they are dimwitted-ly or otherwise purposefully on an agenda which supports the Progressive Movement against the opposition to it...

And why should I as a Fundamentalist follow the recommendations of Evangelicals on political matters?

Do you, as a Christian, want to be lumped with the immorality of Trump? How would that affect your witness?

CTB, there's just a lot of Christians who feel that stopping Hillary Clinton is much more important than is having a right Christian witness upon which the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ may be shared.

That's why I've said repeatedly that it's idolatry. Some Christians made abortion into idolatry and now some have managed to make support of Trump and winning this election into idolatry.
