The debate format on Sunday night is the town hall format. The questions will be asked by audience members. This makes it difficult for the candidates to push back at the question. They must be respectful and appreciative of the question, The candidates will be sitting on chairs or stools, not behind a podium. They are out in the open. They can walk around.

Trump's strength is standing behind a podium pontificating to large crowds. He won't be able to make his many gestures because he will be holding onto a microphone. He's not good at answering direct questions because he doesn't have a working knowledge of many issues. How many times has he said, "We're going to look into that. We're going to ask a bunch of experts and put out a statement in a couple of weeks." I suspect that the audience members will not let him off the hook.

Clinton is more comfortable in small crowds and has years of practice at this type of format. Trump? He couldn't care less about preparation. Last night his campaign staged a town hall style meeting and Trump would have nothing to do with it.

“This has nothing to do with Sunday,” the GOP nominee told the group of nearly 200 people, invited by the campaign, as they packed into the toasty hall. “Forget debate prep -- give me a break.”

I expect Trump to lose this debate and lose it big. Clinton will get under his skin, he will get angry in front of a small group of people in an intimate setting and it will be ugly.

As always, I'm not going to watch this one, but if it were close by I might attend it.
And if I had the chance, what would I ask b.Hillary?...

Charles woods, the father of a Benghazi victim, says you never told him, as you claimed, that the cause of the attack that led to his son's death was an anti-Muslim video. Who is lying?-- Mr. Woods or you?

Do you support the 'rights' of professional athletes, such as Colin Kaepernick, to sit and/or make a rioting gesture during the National Anthem? Would you support the rights of any White House staff to do so?

Since you referred to Trump supporters as "deplorables," are you going to appoint judgeships and other positions without the customary Senatorial courtesy if you regard the senators as deplorable ?

Well, I think this debate will be a train wreck:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/2016/10/06/trump-faces-tag-team-cooper-and-raddatz-next-debate

and the three on one thing sounds about right - too bad the RNC lets the debate commission pick the moderators.

I'd about agree with you that this is not the right venue for Trump - he will have to debate three people and some of the questioners at once, there will likely be plants asking some of the questions, and so on but the third debate is his plan, not this one. He will probably act like he did on his show in the "boardroom" but will radiate charisma, and Hillary can't. It doesn't really matter if he wins or loses, he lost about every GOP debate and Romney won every one of his debates with Obama to no avail. It's on during SNF, heart says Trump and the NYG, head says Hillary and GB.

It will be bad news for both.

Why? Because each side will have canned torpedo statements to launch against his/her opponent after a token answer to a given audience question.

And that was exactly what happened.

It was a mudslinging contest, although Hillary was ladylike as she tossed her mud.

While the moderators did interrupt Trump far more than Clinton they did ask Clinton some tough questions and she tripped over herself trying to answer them. She did not debate well and I believe Trump had her on her heals as well as a few tough questions from the mods.

Trump problem is he had the vulgar immoral behavior to overcome. I think he did well to take some of the focus off him and onto Hillary. He did it by saying she should be in Jail, he would put her in jail, going after her terrible record and her attacks of the women that accused Bill. She really had no answers and she tried to say she would not dignify those things with an answer. She did not do well at all.

I think Trump will win because of what I call the "Jerry Springer Factor". Trump plays on people's emotions by whatever gutter means he can. People respond positively to that. It is sad but they do. It is why corrupt politicians have been the norm.

Dumbest question: What are you going to do to help Muslims overcome the negative stereotypes?

My answer would have been: That's your responsibility. Right now Muslims are attacking and killing us. We're going to fight back.

Trump was good, though, to emphasize the fact that it is a Muslim problem.

    The best dig?

She got caught in a total lie, . . now she's blaming the lie on the late, great Abraham Lincoln. Honest Abe never lied. That's the big difference between Abraham Lincoln and you.

Incredible, I wouldn't have believed it had I not saw and heard the debate in live time unedited by any Orwellian manufacturers (right or left) of historical "truth".

In fact I decided not to watch it but at the last minute turned it on.

I thought it would be a mudslinger and it was indeed!

What I didn't expect was for Trump to make mince meat out of Mrs Clinton.

I believe DT my have even gained some momentum again.

I just don't understand this man's charisma and his ability to bounce back out of the mud clean.
It is as if his the account of his unacceptable "locker room" talk never happened.
