    I have been under the Syracuse,VA care for the past year for my A-Fib.
    There was a test/procedure that the VA wanted me to have. Unfournately, the Syr VA
    did not have the cability to do the test so they sent me to the Bufalo VA.

    I arrived on Wed Afternoon for the pre-procedure consultation, the the procedure was done on Thurs morning.

    After all was said and done - they did not fine any additional problems associated with my A-Fib. (PTL!)
    The main recommendation is to consistently use my C-Pap .

    I do have a question - I would like to ask the Vets here.

    BTW, The VA did put me up in a nice motel on Wed night. ( normal charge is about $150 per night)

    But since I am not service connected for this disability - I was not authorized travel pay.
    At about 300 miles (round trip) that would have been a hefty amount.

    My thinking is that since Syracuse referred me to Buffalo - as the only option - then they should provide travel pay. Also I paid for all my meals - except the one provided shortly after my procedure

    I agree. Personally since I saw no combat and did not go to Vietnam though I served during the Vietnam War era - my present income is too much for me to qualify for benefits.

    If and when my wife quits her job then I would qualify.

    Yes all your expenses should have been covered.

    I really don't know (I am service connected compensatable so I don't pay anything), but it seems logical if they send you somewhere else instead of giving you a voucher to see a local Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist they should pay all your out of pocket expenses. Submit a claim. See what happens. :)

    Hank, have you actually sat down with the services/enrollment rep at the VA? I'm in the same service category as you are. But, even when I was working I was still covered. I have to make co-pays on my visits and prescriptions. Though, it's more of a pay as you go sort of thing. At that, it just about equals what we paid as insurance premiums.

    I am service connected and compensatable (20%) - but its worth checking out.

    Yes and like you my present plan - Medicare Advantage seems a better plan at the moment.
