So you do not attend to 2 Peter 1:
5Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 7and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9For he who lacks these qualities is blind orshort-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 10Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as lohng as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
Perhaps by stating “there is no method for me to follow in order to improve myself, and there is no secret to spiritual growth that if applied correctly will free me from my sin“ I am applying your statement inappropriately.

So I just wanted some clarification

The starting position is rest in Christ. He said, "Abide in me and you will bear good fruit." so, I have to keep both statements true in my understanding.

There is a hint in verse 9. I think it's the key to understanding how both realities are true. It seems that those who don't rest in their justification fail in their sanctification.

"The righteous shall live by faith".

This subject is complex. . .

Ok, I think I am understanding you.

I have a great difficulty matching those who hold to some manner of "progressive" as related to sanctification and what the Scriptures teach.

The Scriptures (as shown in 2 Peter 5) display that a believer needs to grow up to being one who is mature.

The Scriptures display sanctification (also translated holy) as either one is or isn't and not as a progress.

    For example:
When the temple pieces were sanctified, there was a process. But the process was not the sanctification, but lead to the pronouncement of sanctification.

    ThatBrian,
One who is a believer is positionally holy (sanctified). There is nothing to add or can be added.

Consider sanctification is as that electrical conduit in which the wiring can be taken to specific areas of need. The conduit is run throughout the building according to the use of each area.

Sanctification is that conduit in which the Holy Spirit energizes the areas of need, pointing out growth needs, warning lights, exit strategies, alarms, tool bays, ... Those areas in which the believer utilizes to be nurtured and to nurture.

One must mature in wisdom, knowledge, virtue, ... that they not "forget they are purified from sin." I have been in some very large buildings were one has forgotten where the utilities are run. And in time of need a search must be taken and time expended that would have been unnecessary if folks remembered were the plugs were located (forgot they were...)

St. Paul is recognizing the fact that we are all sinners and can continue to sin despite our best attempts to be faithful to the Lord. Jesus said that if you look at a pretty girl with lust - you have sinned. See how easy it is? A simple look and thinking about a physical relationship with her and BOOM, it's all over - sin has now happened. But the Lord is merciful and repentance is available.

Recall, in Rom 6 that the power of sin was broken by the death of Christ.
The Rev. Berkeley Ver. says "we are actually dead to sin."

Gal 5: If we yield to the HS and keep in step with Him we will not carry out the works of the flesh.

The internal battle Paul had is resolved in Rom 8: "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." But, don't forget God's promise of forgiveness and restoration following confession of sin (1 Jn 1:9)

My recent Baptism in the Spirit has not led to perfection. But the HS has given me supernatural ability to live the life of Christ in increasing holiness with great love and adoration of Him. No one can live the life of Christ in their own power!

I am not inviting controversy, only relating what I have learned.
For those who are interested, there is Robert Morris' two books:

The God I Never Knew--How Real Friendship with the Holy Spirit
    Can Change Your Life AND,

Truly Free--Breaking the Snares That So Easily Entangle

I agree. And, the law provides no power in which to bring about righteousness. It is by the Spirit that we have the ability to live righteous lives, in as much as we do.

It starts as a sincere desire from within and available from Almighty God through His Holy Church.

    Well said.

Do you believe that every believer, with the help of the Holy Spirit, must engage Satan and his demons in Spiritual Warfare? He will not relent. Armor: Eph 6. Sword of the Spirit is our only offensive weapon: Word of God: just like Jesus quoted to Satan 3 times in the Wilderness to answer Satan's temptations.

"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

"The gates of Hell shall not prevail" - This is an offensive statement, not a defensive statement, which means that the Church should be striking at the gates of Hell. What that means practically speaking, the proclamation of the gospel and truth-telling.

Presuppositional Apologetics undermines the lies of Satan and is a great way to attack the enemy.

Without a doubt! But the Church is a collective body. Jesus is our example in fighting Satan personally. Satan's attacks are personal; he wars against us individually, to disobey God and perform the works of the flesh.

We need the supernatural power that only the Spirit can give to live the Christian life victoriously. We can not be
successful on our own. That is very clear. We have been regenerated. We identify with Christ in water baptism.
John 1:33 does not stand alone. It is repeated at the beginning of the synoptic gospels as well:

"And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost."

Christ told his disciples to wait for this Baptism (Luke 24:49 and Acts 1:4-5). The 120 received the Holy Spirit
in Acts 2. Peter was one of them. He was empowered to preach his great salvific message.

Well-known theologian and preacher Martyn Lloyd-Jones, points out that speaking in tongues need not be initial evidence of the Baptism then or now. The prophecy of Joel is mentioned. Certain gifts are stated. Others are found elsewhere in the NT.

The purpose of all the gifts is to glorify God in our lives and to lead people to Christ.
