Repeating it doesn't make it true, Hank. You aren't Dorothy, and you don't have the ruby shoes.

You never know. It is true - apart from sin with God all things are possible.
What are you talking about - who is Dorothy? Yellow Brick Road?
I was in the service and I understand Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (In my foolish youth).

I do know. I know with all certainty that you and I are not going to be the starting quarterbacks in the Superbowl. The fact that think there is a chance we could be is only an indication of a break from reality or a horrific case of eisegesis.

All things are not possible, in the world that God created. All does not always mean, "without exception".

I'm sorry that you contradict yourself about God's sovereignty and say that miracles are delusional. The Bible is FULL of miraculous events that unbelievers find delusional. It WOULD have to be a miracle of God for you or any other man here to play in the Superbowl. But you are straining at a gnat.

My point was that your football reference was not in the same "ball park" with what Hank was talking about.

And yes, I am quite aware of the text. I read it about three or four times before I posted here. I always do that. I saw no Calvinism in there nor was I looking for it. I saw the sovereignty of God which relieves me greatly that I am not in charge.

So it's the natural world that has you refuting "all things".

Well, didn't God part more than one river? Have a great fish eat a man and the man didn't get digested, but lived to tell about it? Didn't God turn a woman from vegetable to mineral?

You see ...."with God, all things ARE possible." With man, no. With God, ALL things of his divine will.

without exceptiion ..... all things......of/with God who is sovereign over all ....well, all things

I don't normally watch the Superbowl, but this year, I will watch a little to see if you are there. [just kidding]

[but if God wanted you there, you would be there]

Yes Scarlett, I think if we were in charge, God would have to come to our aid.

Then you have to either...Ignore them because they are idiots and have proven themselves so.

Or, like a family thanksgiving, refuse to discuss issues you just know will start a fight.

Those are your two options I’m afraid.

I typically ignore them. We would not invite people who behaved like the Finneyists here behave to our family Thanksgiving.

And my family has Finneyists, Calvinists, Agnostics, Athiests, Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptists, Dutch Reformed, etc. We did have a Jets fan, but we had to get rid of him. :Wink

Could it be that it takes a clever, witty person to appreciate clever, witty comments?

I did not say that miracles were delusional, Scarlett. I said that you were if you believe that there is any way in which Hank and I would be starting quarterbacks in the Superbowl.

Do you believe that the context of a passage is vital to understanding a text? Or do you think that any single verse can stand on its own when trying to understand its meaning?
