Okay, let's see if we can quiz one another on music trivia. It will not be fair to google for an answer. You are on your honor here. Name a song that Elvis, Dean Martin, Eddy Arnold, Ray Price and Jim Reeves all recorded.

Name at least two songs with the words giddy up in the lyrics.

Name at least two songs with fishes in the lyrics.

Once those questions are answered you may ask trivia questions of your own.

    Tough questions!

My best guess is Ave Maria. I know Elvis and Jim Reeves did it. I've never listened to Dean Martin for pleasure, but I'm quite certain he sang it if not recorded it. Eddy Arnold and Ray Price, who knows?

    Pass.

The only one I can think of is "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night - "...joy to the fishes of the deep blue sea..."

    "Sleigh Ride"

Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, it's grand
    Just holding your hand
We're gliding along with a song
    In a wintry fairyland

Is Rippon's other one some Country & Western number? Gene Autry? Roy Rogers & Dale Evans? Slim Whitman? Perhaps someone who's into that sort of thing can recall...

Add The Oak Ridge Boys "Elvira" to that, and you've got a winner.
    Whatever that means?!

Giddy up is found in My Boy Lollipop as well as the more commonly known Elvira.

Fishes is found in Kay Kyser's Three Little Fishes way back in 1938. Of course the most commonly known usage is from the Three Dog Night song.

The song that was done by Elvis, Dean Martin, Eddy Arnold, Ray Price and Jim Reeves is Welcome to My World.

You poor deprived child! Boy are you missing out. His voice is superb and very pleasing to the ear.

I never could get past the person behind that voice. Not much of a fan of the Rat Pack.

Three little fishes & their mamma fishy too ....
swam & swam right over the dam.

or more spiritual but hardly orthodox.

As I was awalking one morning in May,
    I met with three travellers along the high way;
One was an old man, the second a maid
and the third was a young boy who smiled as he said:
We've the wind in the willows & the stars in the sky
    and the bright sun to warm us wherever we lie;
We have bread & fishes & a jug of new wine
to share on our journey with all of mankind.

I heard that at a folk camp - never before or since. The son of the guy who wrote it came home from school singing it. Teacher said it was a traditional folk song - son wouldn't beluieve his dad :)

    I resemble that remark. ;-)

I should have said Old Pop Songs.

But whatever is considered by the term " Pop Music" these days is not so popular with me. I like songs that are pleasant to the ear. I like "artists" or "vocalists" who can actually sing well. That quality is largely absent in the current "music" market.

Google Music had the Elvis Presley greatest hits album "Elv1s--30 Number 1 Hits" for free a while back so I downloaded it. I'd never really listened to his music, I knew him mostly as an actor in cheesy 60's movie musicals. Although the style of music is not always my favorite the guy had a great voice. I also have a Frank Sinatra greatest hits CD. Same idea--not my favorite genre of music but the guy had a fantastic voice.

Also, I can't believe how much I like country music singer Martina McBride's voice. Just a beautiful voice.

Some of the stuff they call music nowadays doesn't even have a melody and the "singers" have zero range or voice power. Sheesh, I sound like my parents!

In which song did Simon and Garfuncle have a vision of mobile phones?

Which pop song started with scrambled eggs?

Sorry if I have stumped you all -

    ".... people talking without speaking'
    people hearing without listening ...."

Paul McCartney was cooking his breakfast - the 3 syllables of "Scrambled eggs" became a 3 syllable time indicator.
