2016 runner-up J.D. Greear of 'Summit Church' to downplay his Calvinism this time, aims to confront White Privilege among Southern Baptists:

JD Greear Says He Would Focus on Racial, Cultural Diversity if Elected Southern Baptist President

J.D. Greear "represented the Calvinists" in a failed 2016 campaign to capture the presidency, but has since said "he's uncomfortable with the 'Calvinist' and 'non-Calvinist' labels."

"One of the issues he has been speaking out passionately on has been racial reconciliation....'brothers and sisters of color are carrying...burdens that most of us have never had to experience.'"

    So, he's pretty much a shoo-in?

So he wants to be less divisive soteriologically and racially? Or more divisive racially?

Sounds like a good goal, though I question his method.

This guy is a fool. There is no "burden" with being a minority. I'm black and the only burden I have ever had to bear is the burden of my own stupidity when sinning against God.

Greer needs to focus on spreading the gospel and less on pandering to the Godless liberal agenda of making white people feel guilty about being white!

This seems to me of being part of the mindset that states that somehow whites have not suffered enough or what our ancestors did towards Blacks in America, to somehow shame the whites, and think the real answer is to have the real Gospel of reconciliation preached, as I am white, you are black, but the BIG common thing we share alike would be both sinners saved by grace!

Here we go down the mainline rabbit hole! Rapidly declining memberships, people leaving the SBC and more!

But good news! another person who thinks blacks are stupid! I mean there's no way as a black person I could find my way without the white master telling how to, and where to go to church. Next you will be telling me I will need to have an ID to vote, everyone knows we don't have ID's. Have you every of heard of a black person being able to function without the white man telling us step by step how to make it.

Enjoy the free fall SBC, you are now the Methodist Church.

I suppose you can throw your hat in the ring if you can get someone to nominate you.

The SBC thought it was immune to the strife tearing at the "mainline" Protestant churches. Then White Guilt set in.

As my old pastor said "The SBC is going to always fight about something. The only question is 'What is the current something?'."

With the SBC there is one difference – if the Convention was to disappear tomorrow most of the churches that have chosen to be give to the program would go on as normal….with a little more money in their budget.
