My ancestors all resided in Europe 150 years ago so we had nothing to do with your stupid war . When we did come over the only thing we saw of this country was the inside of a coal mine. Eventually , it moved to factory floors then to higher educations and with that better jobs with better pay and more advantages ... all earned.

Good for you. Why do you feel the need to make comments like "buy a trailer in Alabama"? You look down on people based on social class and it is most obvious in your posts.

Fyi, I hit the top tax bracket pretty early each year, but you would not know it if you met me. I guess I have "opportunities" also, but most of that stuff does not appeal to me. I just like simple things in life. My only indulgence is an expensive firearms collection. I wouldn't have most of it if it were not for the fact it will be my boys collection someday. Nothing makes me happier than going to the river with my boys and hauling in giant flatheads, hunting deer, hunting hogs, killing yotes, running coon dogs, and squirrel hunting on a Sunday afternoon.

Cause I just went thru Alabama and that’s what I saw...that and allot of shacks. My inlaws moved to Florida and live in a trailer park . Fine for them but it’s not my personal choice

So, you make derogatory remarks based on your perception of social status.

Another thread where you said someone would go to Alabama and buy a trailer to live in.

Here is one more venue for which I can claim neutrality.

My "forefathers" came to America well after the Civil War so in one way I have "no dog in this hunt".
OTOH having been born in New England I guess I'm a Yankee by osmosis.

But then again and OTOH my step father was from a Free Mason old southern Alabama family where I remember hearing things like
"Save your Confederate money boys, the South shall rise again - YEEHAH!" so a rebel by adoption.

So do people go to Alabama and live in trailers? Do people go to Florida and live in trailer parks? Do people live in trailer parks in NJ—- answer is yes. Now am I connecting an economic prejudice to it? Frankly no, I would be critical of those who live above there means and live in homes they can’t afford. An affordable domicile, is more the mark of a responsable individual

So wasn’t there southerners who moved out of the country rather than put up with northern domination? Of course you’d have to be in exile but wouldn’t it be better he better course of action?

Why close it? I personally would like to see commentary on people’s experiences with the 9/11 Memorial. Even though I’m probably closer in proximity than most, I have not gone there because I lost friends who were at the Port Authority. It’s funny, the 1st time they tried to blow it up I was going to pay the engineer of the PA a visit but I got such a headache that I called up and rescheduled and that Friday they drove in a van in the underground parking garage and tried to blow it up. A close call to be sure. After that I left the city to work in NJ....that August so I think God may have been looking out for me.... but now I’m hesitant to go anywhere near there.

Back to the OP... Yes, we went to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum about a year ago. Very moving. Stayed three times as long as expected. If possible, recommend to everyone that they go (but understand Ann's situation).

The outdoor memorial was very sobering. Found the information on a distant relative (by marriage) who lost his life in the attack.

To me, this is somewhat similar to going to a Holocaust Memorial or to a concentration camp in Europe. But we must go and we must never forget. To me,these experiences make it real.
