LOL the squawkers over at the Pullet and Hen blog are reporting that Al Mohler has forbid seminary faculty from signing this anti social justice manifesto:

"Mohler’s response to the impending Dallas Statement is to warn the faculty of SBTS to not sign it, under threat of termination....Pulpit & Pen is prepared to release correspondence between Mohler’s office and certain of SBTS faculty, instructing them to not sign the statement under threat of termination....at least one faculty member wants people to know that not everyone at SBTS is on board with Mohler’s stance on this issue or his prohibition against signing the Dallas Statement."

 

I don't see any issue with the statement. The article on Original Sin may cause some not to sin that normally would, but I see a lot of affirmation of biblcal teaching here.

What aspect of that? As we are all born lost in Adam, and made spiritually alive again in Christ, correct?

 

I might restate it to place emphasis that only those in Christ now the ones alive, as makes it sem mor eopen ended as to who is really saved as worded!

 

Let's not high jack this thread on to a Calvinism debate. That is not why I posted what I did and it not why Rev posted what he did. Rev was just stating he put aside an obvious difference to sign something he generally believed in. He was looking "big picture" if you will.

Back to topic of the statement. I wish I could say I was shocked, but I am disappointed that so many people are attacking the statement. It has been labeled a racist document by thousands of people on social media...I doubt most have actually read it. I honestly cannot see any hint of racism in the document. At least 2 big name minority pastors have signed or gave it their approval on twitter. These SJW types are losing their minds.

That statement about dead in Adam, and now alive in Christ is the same regardless if one is calvinist or not though!

 

Is that statement basically saying that while Christians need to be involved in sociiety and the culture on these issues, we must always allow the scriptures themselves to define what i sjust and injust, not Black lives matter, getting slavery paid back, homosexual/lesbian movement etc?

 

Today SBCVoices put up a lengthy post that not only attacks the statement, but even brings up stuff that is not in it, but apparently only in the first draft.

The writer of that article will be disappointed to read Thabiti Anabwile say on Twitter account, "This is a wonderfully designed website and a great statement. I think I agree with everything that's in it."

I don't like the fact that on the web site that provides this statement there is no identification of who authored the document. The authors are not even provided on the download of the complete document.

By doing a little searching I was able to find that it comes from the Founders Ministries. Why should anyone sign a document that doesn't identify its authors?

 

That would be the people who are "initial signers". They are the people involved in its development.
