Are you possibly trying to use the fallacy of guilt by association against the NKJV?

Is Thomas Nelson also not known as a publisher of KJV editions?

Thomas Nelson published the KJV many years before it published the NKJV.

Are the NKJV translators supposedly responsible for any incorrect actions by its publisher?

That would seem like a silly thing to do. So,he probably has another reason for posting it. Perhaps he didn’t know it’s already posted elsewhere.

Doesn’t every Bible publisher publish KJV?

I say, let all the for-profit "Christian" publishers go out of business.
To me, they are only interested in one thing...
    Your money.

The non-profits are fully capable of providing Bibles, in whatever language is required, to those believers that want them... and at a substantial savings compared to the for-profits.;)

I have to say this is among the most stupid arguments I've encountered on the board.

Our Baptist forebears were willing to pay a month's wages for the Geneva Bible or two months' wages for a KJV and we cavil at paying an hour or two or three for a Bible, and if we have internet access (that would be everyone here) we can have dozens of translations for free.

I think you've missed my point.

They paid a month's wages for a Bible because they were so rare and valued...
I wouldn't waste a dime on most of today's English translations because I don't feel that they can be trusted to be 100% all of God's words.

To me, the foundation of Thomas Nelson's printing of anything, Bibles or otherwise, is money...while the foundation of most of the translation and printing efforts during the "Reformation", was the spreading of God's very words in the languages of the people.

As I see it, a big difference from then to now.

So, if Thomas Nelson, a predominant for-profit publisher of "Christian literature", ends up paying penalties for indiscretions or wrong-doing, then I can say that I'm not all that surprised.

Honestly, I'm not all that sympathetic, either.;)

Sad to think that today we allow a place a forum where False teachers are protected while they do their best to destroy peoples faith in the KJB.
Wonder what those forefathers would think of that ?

Do you incorrectly assume to know the motives and intentions of believers who post at this forum?

Where do the Scriptures teach that people's faith should be the in following the opinions of men concerning the KJV? Do you suggest that KJV-only advocates seek to destroy people's faith in the word of God translated in present-day English such as in the NKJV?

People are encourage to present and believe the verifiable truth concerning the KJV and other English Bible translations.

The truth is that the KJV is the word of God translated into English in the same sense as the pre-1611 English Bibles of which it is a revision and in the same sense as post-1611 English Bibles such as the NKJV.

Having a large number of changes would be in agreement with the very large number of changes and revisions that the Church of England makers of the KJV made to the pre-1611 English Bibles of which it is a revision.

You do not prove that count that you claim to be factually correct. You are likely repeating the claim of some KJV-only source instead of having made any such count yourself.

Most of those claimed changes likely include many spelling changes such as removing the old "eth" endings on many verbs and changing archaic pronouns such as "thou" and "ye" to "you." The count may include changing "giveth" to "give" or "gives" as a word change.

You do not prove that the changes are wrong.

Updating old archaic language to present-day English would make the English clearer and more understandable for this generation. Do you suggest that God cannot preserve His word in present-day English or in English as will be spoken by future generations?

Languages change. Look at Greek for instance. Koine Greek and modern Greek are vastly different, iirc.

Look at the 17th century Elizabethan English and compare it with today’s English. Look at 13th century English with 17th century language.

    Yes, Willis...
    I agree that languages change.

With that in mind, what do you suggest for the next standard for the Bible that we, as believers, should have, that thoroughly and accurately follows God's words in the existing Greek manuscripts, all of them?
Please keep in mind that the "updates" didn't stop at the English Revised Version of 1885, and now, for all intents and purposes, the whole thing is on "thermal runaway"...with new English translations being introduced, on average, roughly every 5 years or so.

I've stated this far too many times:

If today's translation efforts in English were really about getting to the "best" ( instead of making money ), the work should have been done by now.
We should have had our updated standard that can function for the next 250 years, don't you think?
    I do, good sir.

I also think that we, as believers, are being taken for a ride by those who would make money off us.
To me, they do this by trying very hard to convince us that we need "continuous updates" to the word of God, like Microsoft's business model does.:Biggrin

    Back to Thomas Nelson...

If they went out of business tomorrow, it wouldn't affect me and and many others I know one iota.;)
The Bible I read and understand was printed over 40 years ago, and I was gifted it by someone who picked it up at a Salvation Army Thrift store.:Cool

    May God bless you.:)

Actually your statement could describe your inconsistent, unjust KJV-only reasoning.

It is surprising that you do not take verifiable facts and scriptural truths seriously.

    Again, let's be kind.
I admit, he apparently does more to further the never-ending effort to arrive at a new standard; but either side insulting one another is not the way to go.;)

I have one question for those who support the newer translations:

    Are we there yet?

Thomas Nelson ( among others like these: Christian Publishers - Top 15 Christian Publishing Companies ) apparently wants you to think that we're not, which is why they are in business, as I see it.

The KJV was copyrighted in 1611 and was sold, and royalties paid, just like Bibles are today. Or do you think there was some government Bible giveaway program in the 1600's?

You and I agree on most everything.

This is the second time you have quoted me and proceeded to lecture everyone.

Do me a favor and quote somebody else next time you feel the need to lecture everyone. Thanks.
