Hey y'all. So I'm finally getting baptised this weekend and I'm feeling a bit insecure about having to au naturele. Our priest recommended a white tunic with no shoes or makeup. I know it's real petty, but we have friends and family coming to watch and there will be lots of pictures. Am I being stupid to be worried?

Worried about makeup? Seems to me priorities are WAY out of order.

    Sarah,
My first question - why are you getting baptized?

Sarah, why are you getting baptized? Do you think it has something to do with being regenerated or literal remission of sins?

    Welcome Sarah,
You made known that these were your “petty” concerns, that doesn’t make them insignificant.

    Dealing with your insecurities:
    1. Make up, you’ll be to far away for most others to notice. If you decide to wear some makeup ensure that it’s waterproof... prevents those raccoon eyes after a baptism
    2. White tunic, make sure your clothing doesn’t become transparent when wet and wear appropriate undergarments, nothing with patterns that might show through.
    3. It may be convenient to have sandals or flip flops near by for afterwards.
    4. Pull your hair up so it doesn’t dangle after getting wet.

Baptism is a public identification as a believer in Christ our Savior.
What a neat time to have it done.
    Welcome to the family sister.

Opps, just realized that this was first posted almost a month ago.
Guys, try to be welcoming to newcomers and not chase them away.

Have you been born from above now then, as only His own can be water baptized!
