I am attending my company's annual meeting n Dallas, TX this week. Yesterday I drove from Centraal Florida to Shreveport, LA, a total of 1033 miles. I only stopped for restroom breaks and to stretch my legs. I like route 49 in western Louisiana. The speed limit is 75 mph. It was like the autobahn in Germany. On to Dallas this morning.

The Texas part of I-20 should be 75 most of the way.

Dang, There are these things called jets that were invented a few years ago. They are still a bit new and unproven, but........

I have some personal stops I need to make on way home. The company will not pay for that.

All was good until I pulled into the Metroplex and then traffic slowed to a crawl.

It’s shorter to go through Vicksburg and then drop down to Mobile.

    :)

Yep, spent decades in Dallas. It was much smaller then.

I feel your pain. I don't think there is any good way to get around in Dallas anymore.

I watched a news report last year about Elon Musk floating the idea of pilotless commuter drones. If I remember correctly an electrically powered drone would take off and follow a flight plan to another landing pad in another part of the city. The drone would use satellite and cellular navigation to take it to the target landing pad. Each drone could carry up to six passengers. This is touted as a way to solve congestion problems in major metropolitan areas. There is no way in the world I would be a passenger on a pilotless drone. What happens if the drone malfunctions? What happens if a sudden thunderstorm or gust of wind blows it off course? Are we the Jetsons already? LOL
