If the sun was out all day, the moon might not have been too visible. At any rate, Dr. Morris said in 2003 that it was the earth that stood still. To me, you are illogical to try to take a figure of speech and make a scientific point. If Jesus created the Universe, then He certainly knew how the solar system worked but He evidently was not on earth to correct figures of speech. If this figure of speech is so egregious to the old earthers, why do they themselves use the same figure of speech all the time? Or do you rule out the possibility of miracles?

That's a dumb question. I believe what really happened is the sun and moon stopped for about 24 hours, as described. :Thumbsup

A lot of people don't believe in miracles so how would anyone know who does and who doesn't? Do you believe on deep time and an old earth?

OK, so Jesus made the world but everybody understands Him even though he does not waste time with scientific detail. We agree. :Roflmao:Roflmao:Roflmao

You mean contradictory details. Which is easier to say? The sun rises or the earth turns?

I usually don't agree with ANE interpretation methods - primarily because they assume the Bible modeled myth on nearby cultures instead of the other way around.

However, I can see a possible figurative meaning here in the Book of Joshar. However, at the time Joshua was written, the meaning was literal. I can tell because the author does a double-take and insists he didn't make it up and he got it from the Book of Joshar. I would love it if a copy of that book was found somewhere.

These guys are talking about the movement of the sun with the Milky Way and calling that a scientific error. We are still waiting, however, for the post detailing the mathematical magnitude of this error in the total perspective of the universe although it should be solved by next Tuesday. From the earth it looked as if the sun stood still. If such a miracle were repeated today, I am sure that the government would rush to clarify that miracles are impossible and it was merely an adjustment in the galaxies no matter what a preacher boy might say.

It's simple since Jesus is brighter than the noonday Sun Act 9:3 and blinded Saul on the road to Damascus. Where did the Moon "stay"? In it's normal position but it stayed or was hidden by the Light of Jesus until the battle was over. Amen?
