Should the USA utilize the Draft?

Should the Draft be only for the Army and Navy?
Should the Marines and Air Force rely on only volunteers?
    Should women be drafted?
    Should________ draft...........

    The draft is not needed.

Currently one has to score a 31 AFQT on the ASVAB to enter the service (often higher). The score to qualify is 16. The target score (the ones that can reasonably get in) is 50. The military controls the number of accessions to meet the size determined by Congress.

We were founded on a volunteer army. It should remain that way. We are a country about freedom and liberty. Forcing people into mandatory service is the opposite of that.

People were drafted in the Revolutionary war (and the Civil War, the Korean War, WW1 & WW2)

Interesting. I knew about the subsequent wars, was not aware of the Glorious Cause having the draft other than some states drafting for their militias.

I've been learning a little (not much) since moving here. I found out last month that most Revolutionary war battles were fought in SC (I never realized that before). They also had a tea party in Charleston. They ended up taking the tea from the Brittish and hid it. The Brittish were headquartered above the tea which had been walled up in a cellar. When the Brits were driven out Charleston sold the tea to buy arms to fight.

The draft should only be used when our Homeland is directly attacked.

They always do. The $40k bonus has not changed in years. Back in 1995 they were short on combat engineers, cannon crewmembersand cooks. That's how I went from being a mental health specialist at Walter Reed to a combat engineer in Bosnia. I liked it better so all was good. :)

Criminal record. The courts used to send people to the military. Most made good soldiers. Now, the military won't take them.

When we go to war with China we will have to have a draft. I am afraid not enough people will sign up voluntarily to fight the ChiComs.

Why isn't the military draft unconstitutional because "involuntary servitude" is unconstitutional. My grandfather was drafted for WWI, at age 30, and at the time he was married with 5 children. It appears to me dishonorable people avoid the draft and honorable people step forward.

And lets not forget, we tested the draftees and sent the best and the brightest to the rear guard, and the rest to the killing fields. Who said we should care for the least of His?

Democrats are for the draft which turns people into slaves of the state.

Constitution explicitly gives Congress right to raise armies.
