Anyone else like American primitive style acoustic guitar playing? I absolutely love some of the music by John Fahey, Nathan Salsburg, Gwenifer Raymond, et al.

Here is one I came across last night by Adam Snider called "Swamp Angel".

Man, this is so far superior to the "modern" guitars (IMHO) that it's like the guitar has DEVOLVED to it's modern stage.
I remember when I was at Clemson ('bout a century ago:rolleyes:) some guy was playing his guitar and I walked over to listen. After listening for a few minutes I asked if he knew "MALAGUENA". He didn't say a word, but just started tearing up that guitar with that tune - FANTASTIC!
Have always loved a well played acoustic guitar; far better that modern electrics.:Devilish
    Thanks for posting these!!!!:Thumbsup

    Great thread.

Those songs were recorded with Elvis on rhythm guitar, Scotty Moore on electric guitar, and Bill Black on bass. When he first started out Elvis would hit the guitar strings so hard he would break them. He was a fantastic rhythm player and could also play piano. “Love Me Tender” is a great example of Elvis accompanying himself with only an acoustic guitar. The Jordanaires added the backup vocals but the rest is him.

    Fascinating!

Gwenifer Raymond’s part is last, just before the 10
    minute mark.

My favorite tune on Nathan Salsburg's "Affirmed" album is the one named after the sire of Secretariat, "New Bold Ruler's Joy".

While he was alive i would get stopped on the street for a signature.

My wife and I were in Honolulu and were being followed by a guy who got on the bus with us.
This was several years after Jerry had died.

He looked right at me and said "It can't be".
    I said "Don't tell anyone!".
    :Roflmao
    I know, I'm cruel.
