This thread is not a "current events" political discussion, nor is it meant to be upon the rhetoric of the current political issues.

Typically there are basic internal naratives that drive every person: that which is conservative, that which is liberal, that which is libertarian, and that which is moderate (independent) of either.

Some (such as myself) certainly attempt to be independent (somewhat libertarian) from any side, who do attempt to listen to the arguments from each side, and which also tends to present to others a bit of inconsistency.

Allowing for those three positions, what might the Scriptures teach concerning how the Lord Jesus Christ would have been labeled by folks in the U.S.? (Doesn't England have the labels reversed?)

To kind of kick start the thread, I offer two older articles. Both of these authors come from far different backgrounds, yet arrived at a similar conclusion.

A 2010 article by Michael Shermer: Was Jesus a Conservative or a Liberal? » Michael Shermer

Julie Meister wrote a personal journey: Why I Left the Right: How Studying Religion Made Me a Liberal

Ultimately, the question may be: Is it possible to present passages from the Scriptures in which a Conservative may take a passage very differently from the Liberal?

For example, what might be the difference in applications concerning this text?
"44“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,...." or
24“Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.”

(Note: proof texting used on purpose as an example of the typical conservative or liberal way of presenting a support for some statement(s).)

Could it be that the Lord Jesus Christ was libertarian in some areas, conservative or liberal in others, or just independent from any labeling?

What statements by Christ might you quote which support assigning Him to a label?

There are many passages in scripture call for support for the poor, widows and orphans and so forth.

Where liberals get it wrong, imo, is they interpret those calls for compassionate support by individuals to mean generous government programs where other people’s money is used.

    Peace to you

I view Christ as a realist than an idealist.

Also keep in mind that over the years that conservatives and liberals have changed.

I view Christ as Holy, the Truth, and Sovereign. The institutions of man are not worthy to be used to attempt to categorize our Lord. His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. His ways and thoughts are far beyond ours. By His grace, He allows the believer to currently have the view described by Paul. But one glorious day, we shall be like Him and will understand.

OK.... opinions are like (choose your part of human anatomy that serves to exit what you eat). Everyone has one.

That is what my 1st boss explained to me when I expressed my opinion to him...not in those exact words however.

Unless you are in a comma - you can do something - that crippled you mentioned - can call people
on the phone - even a word of encourgment. Many years ago - there was a book entitle (I think)
"The New Jews) was a story about sevral Jews who found Christ. One of them - had no legs -
he walked on artficial legs - yet he was able to exclaimed that he Loved Jesus - regardless of his
    physical condition.

Everyone can do something - it may not be as much as the average person can do - but as long as
they are putting out 100% based on their capibilities.

EWF, I see you placed this in the past tense.

I suppose, some might point to the late S. W. Hawking as an example.

It is so unfortunate that folks, even in this modern time, might look upon your sister as mentally dysfunctional as well as physically. I've met some that can be so cruel and critical even scared of what they do not know anything about.

How long ago did she pass? How old was she?

I asked her doctors at what age was she supposed to die.... they told me from 9 to 12 years depending on her care. My mother was her principal care and she lived till 39 (trapped in a body that didn’t work) but mom was totally devoted... fed, clothed, medicated, washed her, gave enemas etc. Mostly gave all her love, her life. Needless to say, mom was my heroine.

You have to live in someone’s shoes to develop understanding.

    No doubt.

The media makes hero's of lesser people then your testimony of your mother’s care.
