What drives your passion for enjoying various Bible translations?

My love of God's word
My inability to comfortably read in Hebrew or Greek
My desire to see how others interpret God's word, or other ways that it can be interpreted.
The joy of discovery
I enjoy reading the word afresh.

I do not have a passion for it. It is a tool, in fact one of many. While it is the primary guide it is still only a translation. Being such all translations require there be further research and study beyond the translation to properly understand God's word. No translation can remove the need for that.

 

The more translations you consult, he better off you'll be in understanding God's Word better. Bill Mounce and other N.T. scholars agree.

 

You got it all backwards.

My passion for investigating different Bible versions has kept me in God's Word. It helps me to set and reach goals, keeping the process invigorating. I'm reading through my 4th translation now, with hopefully many more on the horizon.

 

I merely meant that my interest in different versions is the driving force for my passion of reading the Bible.

 

My passion for Lord Jesus, for when I am in a good fellowship with Him first, enjoy the Bible, but when out of fellowship with Him, not much Bible reading!

 

Maybe my post put the cart before the horse.

 

Just think way too many for today though, and that new ones and revisions are being done mainly for mammon and not for God!
