Adrian Pierce Rogers (September 12, 1931 – November 15, 2005) was an American Southern Baptist pastor and conservative author. He served three terms as president of the Southern Baptist Convention (1979–1980 and 1986–1988).[1]Rogers was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He entered Christian ministry at the age of nineteen. He graduated from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Rogers was ordained by Northwood Baptist Church (later known as The Village Baptist Church, now operating as Family Church Village[2]) in West Palm Beach. His first job as a senior pastor was at Fellsmere Baptist Church, a small congregation in Fellsmere, Florida. He performed his first baptism in the C-54 Canal near Fellsmere. He was senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, Florida from 1964 to 1972. In 1972, he became the senior pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, where he remained until March 2005. During this period, the church's membership grew from 9,000 to 29,000, and the church moved into a new, megachurch facility.[1] Rogers was named pastor emeritus after his retirement in March 2005.

I've learned so much from that strong and appropriately authoritative blessed saint. Forever grateful.

No. I didn't read any quotes.
You are correct, here is the first time I read the name. Is he contemporary enough to have youtube videos?
I confess, I am not intending on researching him, but if you want to link a book or sermons, I may take a peek.

You know, I have no idea why someone would find this post funny but it is childish to do so.

He and Charles Stanley were formed SBC presidents , who turned tide away from modernism that was creeping into SBc at time!

The comment wasn't about you but about finding your comment funny. But there's a difference between being childish and being childlike.

I used to listen to him all the time back in the 90's on our local Moody affiliate radio station.
As a younger believer, I was definitely impressed with his speaking style and found that he had a lot of good things to say that directed me back to God's word on a great many subjects.
Yes, there are plenty of videos on YouTube featuring Adrian Rogers.

I thought this one was especially interesting:

    As well as this one:

But there are many that I find are still profitable even today...and once again, still direct me to what God's word says about many subjects.

    False teaching plain and simple.
There is no excuse for this explaining away of truth.

Thanks for the links. He's certainly easy to listen to as an orator.

I listened to the sermon Love Worth Finding. His teaching that all can choose Jesus is theologically incorrect as expressed by Jesus in John 6, John 10 and John 17 so in that light he made false statements. His motives seem good so I wouldn't quibble with him on many things. His understanding of God's Sovereignty in choosing sinners to respond in belief and repentance is where I would have disagreed.

    Thank you for the links.

If a person is going to give the message of salvation, it should be in alignment with what Jesus actually taught, not what a preacher wants Jesus to have taught.
The message I listened to was inaccurate in regard to salvation.

Being a good orator who can convince people does not make a person theologically accurate.

Your preacher was easy on the ears. I grant you that.
