What exactly is meant by "theology of the weeds." Does it refer to the belief there are people calling themselves Christian who are in fact going to hell? I Don't want to make a bad assumption.

Think yard work after many days of rain.
Think the sound of walking across your yard.
    Squish. Squish. Squish.

Think about something you would rather be doing than trimming weeds that are close to the trees, bushes, and flowers.
Underneath all that pretty green stuff.
Underneath those colorful blooms and sprouts.

    Like taking a nap.
    :Sleep

    Do not think...
    Do not go to sleep...
    Do not read your Bible...

Just get out there and see to the weeds.
    :Cautious

Think Adam after the Fall in the Garden.
    Yes...that is it.
Think of the Garden after the Fall.
    Weeds
    Weeds
    Weeds

Never let a hoe leave your hands--or nowadays--a weed trimmer--leave your hands.
Do not mind the shake of your body that the weed trimmer gives you.
Do not mind the juice from that poison vine snaking up your favorite tree as you cut away.

Just get out there and see to the weeds.

    Steven,

Are you trying to predict my life in eternity because I have nutgrass in my little spot of Eden in the backyard?

Sounds like a bad assumption to me.

    Just saying.

Or we can discuss assumptions in general.

    Which ones are good? :Thumbsup
    Which ones are bad? :Thumbsdown
And anyway, just what is an assumption?

To understand my brash words, you need to see the rain-soaked properties here in the south. The creeks and rivers have reached flood stage (and beyond). And where there is extreme rain, weeds prosper.

    *****

Moderators, please allow me to post a public apology to member Steven Yeadon for my brash comments earlier in this thread.

    *****

Steven, the weather is no excuse for my brash words to you.

    Please accept my public apology.

May God bless you and your family.

We all need prayer at this time.

I was somewhat nuts with my post. Deepest appologies for disrespecting your thread the way I did.

I feel that we may have something in common and that would be a love for chopping weeds. I own a Husqvarna weed eater and a Cub Cadet trimmer mower. Pushing my trimmer mower through a large briar patch is hog heaven for me. A verse comes to mind when I am slaughtering weeds.

    . 28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it;

Them weeds is got to be subdued somehow, and maybe we are God's chosen vessels for that project.

Probably the same part I didn't understand...
What weeding a garden has to do with Bible study and Baptist Theology.

But reading through it, all I got out of it was the necessity of yard work, which I do all the time.

When I study God's word, that is food for my soul.
When I do yard work and weed my garden, that is to take care of the things that God has blessed me with, and to feed my body.:)

    I thought this was about "tares" ( Matthew 13 ), as well.:Unsure

Then when the OP was clarified, I thought to myself, " Hmmm...the articles listed in the links seem to me to be describing a dual subject...that of weeds in a garden, and that of people who profess Christ and aren't His. "

My mind went to 2 Timothy 3:13.
