What If Our Individual Views on Eschatology Prove to be Wrong?

Well, I believe Jesus will return after a tribulation period, so if I’m surprised it will a welcome surprise.

edit to add: I believe heaven will be so unlike anything we have experienced on earth that it will all be a surprise.

Like a little bit wrong or totally way off base wrong?

Either way, I don't suppose it would be a big surprise. While I certainly have my own beliefs on the subject, it's hardly something on which I'm rigidly dogmatic.

 

Jesus is returning. That is all we really know for certain. And that's all we need to know, when all is said and done.

 

We like to think we've got it all figured out, but that simply isn't the case.

 

If we're wrong, we're wrong. And the fact that we have "a lot (of) disparate views" should tell you something.

 

Beyond the basics, such as Jesus returning and the dead in Christ being raised and those alive being instantly changed, anything about when Jesus will return and any details beyond the basics is just human speculation. God will usher in the new heavens and earth His way and based on His timing, and He has chosen not to tell us the details as to when or how.

 

I agree with Ken... The scripture are based on the here and now, not so much the then and there... Too many are concerned with how I'm going to get there, instead of who is going to take you there... I will never forget the wisdom of my godly father, who is now with the Lord as I also was concerned with the last day, hearing so many interpretations of it... So I asked him: Dad when is the last day?... He kinda chuckled and said, son, when I breath my last, that is my last day!... Anyone's last day could come any time... Brother Glen

1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

 

Fortunately we are not saved by having correct doctrinal or eschatological positions.
We have a God that knows all things and is in control of all things.
There may be times when even that solid foundation may seem to waver, still yet I have faith that my Savior is faithful.

Explain that statement, are we not saved by having the right Jesus and Gospel, so that is indeed right doctrines?
