What is your opinion of the seemingly endless KJVO topic?

I like toast -- well toasted on both sides with lots of butter. With my coffee, or with bacon and eggs. :)

Well, I do find a "toast" discussion more interesting than the KJVO ones!

In a more serious reply, I partially agree with you. I think sometimes we have serious problems discussing KJVO here. First, yes, to a large degree, much of what can be said has been said and gets said over and over, often in exactly the same way. Second, too often it is hard to discuss things in the realm of the Bible version because somehow the KJVO gets sucked back in, even when that really is not the topic. Third, reviewing the more recent posts in this forum suggests the KJV-related posts get the most responses. (Which might not be that meaningful, e.g., if it is just the same few people responding.) Fourth, in general, we probably generate more hear than light.

If we could refine our discussions, learn to speak to one another with less acrimony and in less accusatory tones, that would help.

So, I guess my preferred way of voting (other than "I love toast") would be for better discussions (as opposed to no discussions).

it is ONLY "endless" due to the fact that those who hold to the Kjvo position refuse to accept other translations as being valid, and cast and sow division among the ranks!

You don't think constant bickering and name calling on this, and numerous other forums, doesn't do the same thing? Even more so, imho. I haven't seen the "division" from KJVO people that you seem to think exists, but I have seen some terrible arguments and anger from "Christians" posting about the KJVO issue! Year after year. <-----That is doing more harm than any KJVO person I've ever encountered. Some are obsessed with the topic. It's like watching a very bad movie over and over again. Frankly, IMHO, it needs to be put to bed, there are other important issues that deserve more attention than this nonsense.

I do not know any who is not KJVO who were see the Kjv as being bad or corrupted, nor say that one cannot read and use it, but many in KJVO do say that all other translation are bad and corrupted, and that real Christians must use just the Kjv!

And I know a few KJVO people, and NONE of them say those things.

Anyway, I don't want this thread to turn into another KJVO bickering fest. I just want to see what people's opinions about the issue are. I take it you think it should continue?

Do you, PERSONALLY, know ANYONE who has told YOU those things? Do you know of ANY church splits over the KJVO issue? After all, according to some people who post on here, it's running rampant across America! You'd think I would have heard of it happening somewhere near me. I have not. Nor do I, PERSONALLY, know of any "church splits" or "divisions" over the KJVO issue. Have they happened.....maybe, I don't know. Not in my experience anyway. BTW, just for general info, there have been church splits over carpet colors, music choices, using hymnals or Power Point, worship team or not, Sunday night services ........lots of ridiculous things. Those things I HAVE heard about. KJVOism church splits?.....NOPE, NADA, NONE!

The church splits would only happen if a pastor or elders were in a church and then tried to bring in KJVO position!

But.....I asked, do YOU PERSONALLY know of any? Church splits, I mean. As I said.....posters on here claim it's running rampant in churches across America. I'd like to have some proof of that, please.

Seems he must be talking about those that are not Baptist... Speaking of the Baptist, would someone please explain to me why some of those who are not of our persuasion seem to not have a problem with the KJV?... I've been noticing that ever since I joined the BB... They read it, study it and quote it!... Yet they can't join the conversation... Go figure:confused:... Brother Glen:)

And Btw... I'm well aware of Hobie, Konstanin, and rockytopva, just to name a few and as far as I know they are KJV hands down!

KJVO only persists because of the stubbornness of those who refuse to listen to facts. Sorry not sorry.

As to discussing onlyism, I have very little interest. People gonna believe what they want, I'm not going to waste my energy trying to convert them.

I suppose this thread is still open. If it's closed, that's OK w/ me too. Since it appears to still be open, I'll add my $0.02: I used to was a KJVO, but that's all this new born person heard back in 1966. I turned 55 YO in God's family on April 23, so here's my views on the KJVO issue.....Yes, the RSV cast doubt on the Virgin Birth, but to condemn any & all other versions as coming from the pits of hell is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. I DO like reading the KJV in places, but since English is a living language, words can & do sometimes change their meanings. EX: In James 2 it talks about someone coming into your meeting in GAY clothing. To 17th century folks, GAY simply meant "fashionable," but in recent years GAY has changed its meaning. Then too, in Acts 12:3 the KJV erroneously translates it to read "Easter," which isn't what the Apostle Paul meant. It should read "Passover." I enjoy reading the KJV, but I don't primarily use it for my own personal Bible studies. There ARE other reliable MV's out there, & I do use them. What REALLY grieves me about this KJVO issue is the stance that some KJVO'ers take by calling any & all MV users "heretics." If the KJV floats your boat, OK. OTOH if you prefer other versions, that's OK w/ me. Besides, if "Faith cometh by hearing (audibly ?) & hearing by THE Word of God," how were people who lived decades before 1611 saved? And since the KJV is written in English, must one learn English to be saved? "Ye shall know THE Truth, & THE Truth shall set you free!" "Truth" is, that in some places the KJV DOES fall somewhat short.
