There are all kinds of conditions -
anything from a person being too big or too small for uniforms
minor medical conditions that possibly become major issues
Should we draft those in school who are training to be doctors, lawyers, pastors, ect

A major reason a person may not be allowed to enlist is if you are too fat
For example - a person 5'10 can weigh about 190 pounds
But if we had a major war - they would give waivers on weight!

Used to be that someone convicted of a minor crime could join the Army to avoid jail

Virtually any drug arrest will keep you out of the Army
would that happen when WW III comes?

Even tattoos could keep you out of the Armed Forces, esp the USMC

A bad credit rating could keep you out

Up to 75 Percent of US Youth Ineligible for Military Service

My grandfather was drafted and served in WWI. He was married when drafted. He was 30 years old when drafted. He was the father of five when drafted. He had a college education (but no degree) from Stanford when drafted. Anyone who denies the draft constitutes involuntary servitude believes in enslaving others for their own benefit.

The draft will likely be unnecessary for the foreseeable future. Today's military requires highly trained people, not cannon fodder. The military technology with which we have equipped our nation requires comparatively few people to operate.

In the event of an existential threat to the nation, for instance, a literal invasion where our technology has been disabled, the military will be overwhelmed with volunteers and scarce resources for appropriate basic training.

The bible teaches it is better to be free than slave. Thus the draft is unbiblical. And how does the system actually work? The honest people with integrity do not dodge the draft and their names end up on a memorial. But the dishonest, those lacking integrity dodge the draft while benefiting from the sacrifice imposed on others. It is an evil system, where those who think of themselves as part of the ruling class, write laws that do not apply to themselves, but do apply to others, especially the poor, the less educated, and of course Blacks, and Hispanics.

The draft is why this nation is a crap hole today. The leftistists stayed in college and became professors. The Patriots went to NAM. Those draft dodgers, and their disciples, now dominate the education system.

Section 8, Article 1 of the US Constitution states:
The Congress shall have the power to .... Raise and support Armies,

Thus the draft is constitutional! --- Supreme Court rules that the draft is constitutional - Selective Draft Law Cases., 38 S. Ct. 159, 245 U.S. 366 (1918)

Being in the military is NOT the same as having been a slave in the 19th Century.
(in this day and age - we are a slave to taxes!)

Real resistance about the draft began with the Vietnam war - because many thought that war was immoral,
    unlike Korea and WWII.

The draft ended in 1972. Thus a person born on 1 Jan 55 (thus eligible for the draft in 1973 would now be 66 years old - of which most would now be retired. Thus I find it hard to see how those "draft dodgers" are now dominating the education system.

And MANY college grads did serve in Nam. 6600 officers died in combat. 900 were grads of Military schools and some 5700 received commissions via ROTC or OCS.-- Approximately 15% of the force is officers. Thus there were about 400 thousand officers in Vietnam.

Raising and supporting our defense does not mean the draft is not involuntary servitude. Yes, SCOTUS has ruled that the draft is constitutional but that ruling rewrites the meaning of words.

I must give it to the Air Force on this one: If a war is important enough to use 100 divisions, why not use nuclear weapons?
