The USA entered WW II due to the bombing of Pearl Harbor

but lets suppose that the Japanese had not taken any military action against the USA
Would the US have eventually got into the War - and if so - would it have been just against Germany
or would we have declared War on Japan since they were part of the Axis?

NOTE; Yes, I realize that there is a theory that FDR wanted Japan to attack, possibly as a reason to get into the war - But for the discussion of this thread - that is not part of this discussion

Probably not. Even with the attack on Pearl Harbor much of America did not want us involved (they did not consider it an attack on the US but on the military base).

I doubt it. The Ruskies had the German Army on the run prior to the US entering the war

You think wrong, brother. Perhaps most did but there were objections as well. Remember, the attack was not within the US but on a foreign military base.

My father was in WW II, 5 years overseas, and they had to turn away people from enlisting!

OK-- Now that has been established - PLEASE back to the OP

He didn't attack in winter. He attacked too late and got stalled out in part by winter. I personally think Stalin let Hitlers army penetrate deep into the country so he could destroy it.
Most people overlook the fact that Russia had mechanized infantry superiority to Germany. Russia had the best tank in the war and had insane numbers of them.
