Scam calls

    Recently, I have been receiving scores of scam phone calls
    for elecricity discounts, warranty repair, and ect

    Have you been getting them?
    If so, what do you do about them?

    Yep.
    Buy the policies. Buy insurance on your A model Ford. 1967 Whirlpool freezer, etc.

    Depends whether they come over my landline or cell, I hang up as soon as I deduce it's a sales\charity call. If it comes over my cell, I block the number.

    Usually I screen the calls with call answering and don’t pick up.

    Hee hee, but I like the polling calls we get around voting time.
    I’m the reason for the 2-5% accuracy skew - I game the callers.

    Probably wont do much good as they hijack different real numbers each time they call.

    I might consider that - but I have a home office and get many calls as church pastor and
    as a salesman for a Christian Radio station. I have found that often a valid call will not leave a message for various reasons.

    I had an uncle, who lived in a remote house on his inherited land, who had little to do but tend his gardens and lovingly feed his fish in his pond. When he got one of these spam or scam calls, he would feign interest and ask question and indicate he was "almost decided." He might keep the caller on the phone for hours...

    I got a call a couple years ago claiming I had a “deadly virus” on my computer. He was trying to get my info. I finally said, “for all I know, you are just some guy in India trying to scam me”

    He began to argue, saying, “you cannot prove that!, you cannot prove that!” And then stated he would notify his supervisor of what I had said, as if I was going to get into trouble somehow.

    I guess people in other countries really do believe Americans are 1. Rich and 2. Stupid
