    Mods will delete this

    I remember I was about 10

I was teaching my 4 yr old sister about the lil drummer boy

my mom laughed at me and said he was not real

    I felt like an idiot

it was the beginning of doubt as to the integrity of the WOG

Why would a mod delete this?

While the song is a good illustration of Mark 12, I'm not fond of the song myself.

And the little pagan drummer boy has a long standing tradition here thanks to Aaron.

    Come they told me
    Our finest gifts we bring
    So to honor him
    When we come

    Little baby
I am a poor boy too
I have no gift to bring
That's fit to give our king
    Shall I play for you

    Mary nodded
The ox and lamb kept time
I played my drum for him
I played my best for him
    Then he smiled at me
    Me and my drum

    Come they told me
A new born king to see
    Me and my drum

    Rum pum pum pum

Does anyone see where the Little Drummer Boy was unbelieving in the New Born King?

Had the Little Drummer Boy been saved? Nope as Christ had not yet sacrificed His life on the cross.

Had the Little Drummer Boy obtained approval by his faith? Christ did smile at him.

Is striving to honor our king "Pagan?" I think not.

"Had the little drummer boy obtained approval by his faith? Christ did smile at him."

Is that recorded in Chemicals 3:16?

The issue was someone claimed the Drummer Boy was pagan, even though a fictional character. I pointed out that there was little evidence for such a supposition. Your post appears unprofitable.

Debating whether a fantasy character had life in Christ using such logic that Christ smiled at him is unscriptural. Debating actual biblical truths would not be such a waste of time, especially on such a man made holiday as christmas. You can't take whatever you want and slap the name of Christ on it and it be either scriptural or truth.

To me it is no different than questioning whether Christ smiled at the easter bunny.

    Talk about unprofitable.

    ...not Aaron's point.

I believe that was more of @Van's error.

What’s wrong with the song/story? Simple. The kid didn’t have two mites to rub together.
What he did: Tried to get by with a beat. What he should have done: Gone to market and drummed up tips. :Wink

But the debate isn't about the character. The debate is about the moral of the story.

Welcome back Aaron... We know when you posted The Little (Pagan) Drummer Boy, Xmas must just be around the corner... First of all its a cute song but ridiculous and it would never be sung in my Baptist Church and anyone whose ever had children know that when a baby smiles maybe a change needs to be made:eek:... There is a reason for the season but best not to fall for the snare of the drum... Brother Glen:)

Luke 2: 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

I am not the one changing the subject, stonewalling, and turning the thread toward unprofitably.
