What are some military phrases you still use:

Grass grows by inches - not by feet

    Close enough for govt work

If the Army wanted you to have a wife - they would issue you one

    As you were

Get your hands out of your pockets

What is the 6 digit grid

    What about your Fruit Salad

What is a DFAC - I want to go to the Mess hall

    Is that your Military Left?

Don't call me a Sir, I work for my money!

    any more?

"Eat like a baby bird, three times your weight every day."
    "Do not wear customized fatigues."
"Shine your boots after lights out using your flashlight."

Oops, I see I was supposed to cite phrases I still use!

the LT Col was a good student very loyal and placating, likable funny not a good athlete, pereceived as not very tough

the 2nd totally bad attitude, very average student, bad mojo few if any friends, not a good athlete at all definitely not very tough almost a whiner

the one who was hit by lightening

very very average student, very well liked, almost very good athlete, tough
