    Hello All,

Would you please pray for our family? We have set a goal to complete deputation and have all our support raised by January 2008. We will need many meetings where churches begin supporting our ministry before we reach this goal. We are currently at 60% of our needed support.

Thank you all for your prayers.

    wow, that's awesome!

My husband and I are looking at possibly working with the American military stationed in Japan. We would not be exclusively to the military, but it would comprise a large portion of the ministry, at least at first.

I'll be praying for your family, and it's great meeting you!

Hang in there Kevin. God will bring in the support, but it takes time sometimes. We took 3 1/2 years, and it was very sweet to reach the field after that in 1981. It was worth all of the effort to be where God wanted us.

Remember that you want the right churches to support you, not just any church. We have been so blessed with our supporting churches. Some of the pastors have become close friends, and there are several churches that feel like another home church to us.

God bless you as you serve Him.

    A Great Ministry

I enjoyed my time in Germany and we can't wait to return to Eifel Baptist Church. I hope you get the chance to work with the military in Japan.

    Good advice

Thank you for the good advice.

I agree about the churches being of like mind. I believe the overwhelming majority of our support is from churches and individuals that are in full agreement with our positions and standards. I have been very forthcoming with churches while we are on deputation. I am sure that has cost us some support, but I want those churches to know who we are and what we believe. I don't want anyone to get surprised later.

That's wise, Kevin. Independent Baptist churches nowadays seem more divided on minor issues than they were in 1977 when I started deputation.

    Bro. Kevin,

Back in the 1960's (1967-1969 to be more exact), I was a member of what started out as a mission work of Eifel Bible Baptist Church of Bitburg, Germany.

This mission was known as Landstuhl Baptist Mission which was located (as her name implied) in Landstuhl near the big military hospital. Eventually we organized into an autonomous local Baptist church and became known as the Bible Baptist Church of Landsuhl.

At that time I was stationed at nearby Ramstein Air Base and served as an SGT/E-4 working as an aircraft electrician primarily on the RF-4C recon aircraft.

If my memory serves me correctly [treading on shaky ground here! ], the pastor of EBBC at that time was a man by the name of Frank Combs. (I do know that the man who pastored the Landsuhl mission/church was Jerry Briggs!)

Bro. Kevin, everything that you and the other brethren said in your video presentation about missions to the military is absolutely true!!

In my case, I was only about a one-year-old babe in Christ when the Lord led me to that work in Landstuhl. What the Lord showed and taught me in the couple years I was with them is something for which, even some 40 years later, I'm still praising God!

I'll certainly keep you and your family in my prayers!

Only eternity will reveal how important to the furtherance of God's program here on earth is the work that He has commissioned among our military people both here and abroad!!

    I am glad you posted

Thank you very much Bro. Paul. I am always interested in history from Eifel Baptist Church. I will get you on the forum in a jiffy. I would love for you to post about your memories from the early days. Many people will find that interesting.

As you know, there is nothing like a military work.

I received your E-Mail from pastor Curriden. I will get you up and running soon.

    Thanks again!

    The Work in Germany

    Hello everyone,

I received an e-mail today asking for an update on our status. Wow! I checked the date on this post. It's hard to believe January of 2008 seems so long ago. Praise the Lord we eventually came close enough to our support goal that we left for the field. It sure is better than deputation!

Shortly before arriving in country, I believe the Lord directed us to plant an Independent Baptist Church in Illesheim, Germany. Illesheim is a tiny town not far from Nurnberg. (Sorry, no umlauts for the spelling) There is a small Army post named Storck Barracks. The name of the church is God's Word Baptist Church.

We have enjoyed seeing several people saved and Baptized. Our current greatest need is to have a well grounded faithful family transfer into Storck Barracks and help to set an example in this young ministry. We sure appreciate the prayers and the interest as expressed by the e-mail I recently received. God bless you folks for caring.
