If a professed believer dies an does not have eternal life, then that one did not have eternal life. Eternal life is lost by never having it. 1 John 5:12-13.

Nobody knows when death will come. And if salvation as such can be lost, nobody can know that they will be saved when death comes. That notion of salvation renders 1 John 5:13 false. One cannot actaully know what one will not actual have. Comment?

God's Word tells us the conditions of salvation are to believe and follow God's Word *JOHN 3:15-21; JOHN 1:1-14; JOHN 10:1-10; JOHN 10:26-27. This is always a present tense application to the Greek verb "BELIEVING now and why we are warned against departing the faith *HEBREWS 6:4-8; HEBREWS 10:26-31. This only agrees with 1 JOHN 5:13 that God's people are only those who believe and follow God's Word.
